We visited HMC in 2000. I've noticed new activities in the brochure, but don't see them as excursions listed on the HAL website. Is the Aqua Park open? What about stingrays and horseback riding? I don't remember any of these from last time. We're taking our 8 and 5 yr. old girls on their first cruise :) . We'll be sailing on the Zuiderdam - EC - Nov. 6, 2004

None of these "new" activities at HMC are in place yet. When they will be added, no one seems to know. Why they are listed in the brochure and not available yet is a mystery.

We were told that the stingrays and horseback riding activities are SUPPOSED to be ready this fall.
You mentioned that you will be cruising in November. About 60 days before your cruise, you should be able to access "booking" excursions. If those new activities are ready, they should be listed on the form.

Thank you for your responses. We were thinking about doing the stingray thing in Nassau anyway. I'm still hoping that the Aqua Park is open though. The girls have never even been to the beach or seen the ocean. This is all going to be incredible for them no matter what excursions we decide to do!

Once your children have been introduced to the beach and the ocean - be prepared - they will want to go back.
AND once they have been on a cruise ship that includes beaches and (of course) oceans - start saving those dollars! They will love it.

What a wonderful experience the whole cruise will be for the children. Hope they have the most terrific time.....of course, they will.
The only activities that interest me at HMC are sunning, swimming, eating, drinking, and walking. :)

s7s - like you - we only love to go over and sun and have fun. Husband swims - I never learned - always have a couple of drinks - since husband's heart attack - we go back to the ship for a late lunch.
Used to do the cabanas - did it once - feel it is no longer worth the price - won't do it in the future.
We have always walked the beach and will continue to do that - love walking and looking at the scenery.

When we were last at HMC (in March), it wasn't very long after my heart attack and surgery so I thought it might be tiring and a bit strenuous for me. Not at all....it was soooo relaxing and I loved walking that exquisite beach. What a pleasure to stroll in the gorgeous sand.
Like you....we used a cabana at HMC once. Actually, we were the very first folks ever to use one there when we were on a summer Maasdam cruise and they had just completed building and supplying the first cabana. We had an incredible day and it could not have been better in any way. But, having been there and done it.....we no longer feel any curiosity or desire to rent one again. DH wants to sun himself and not sit under cover.....I spend alot of time swimming (or used to) and walking. It really would be a waste unless we were planning a party there with friends.

How wonderful! When we took our oldest daughter on a cruise for her graduation she brought a friend who had been to the beach in Florida but had never seen the Caribbean and she was in awe at the water, we couldn't get her out. And she was 20! My daughter is fortunate in that she had been to the Caribbean a few times so she enjoyed seeing it through her friend's eyes.
Have a great time with your kids, how old are they? I can't imagine seeing someone see the ocean for the first time. Ours were pretty young the first time they went to the beach so it was uneventful.

Our girls are 8 and 5. I hope the 5 yr. old isn't too young to remember it, but I'm known to take a ton of pictures, so she can look at them for years to come. I think the 8 yr. old is as excited about flying in an airplane as she is about the cruise!

That's great and you won't have to worry about them forgetting, just continue to take them on cruises!
