Does anyone have the exact kids crew schedule for the NCL Star cruise to Alaska? If someone could scan it in, or just copy the hours and activity titles I'd sure appreciate it.

Any particular age group? I have them here and plan to post them with my review.

Can you confirm the age breakdown. We will have a nine year old and an 11 year old and would like them to be in the same group. We will be on the transition cruise in September but since it is a 7 day cruise, I would guess there would be no change in the program. I would love to see the daily activities they have for the kids.

Just wondering if I have missed the review from poster. I was interested in getting a copy of the kids program on the Star. If anyone else has this available, can you post it here or to my e-mail address at cruiser@dslextreme. com
Thanks everyone.

The age brackets for the programs on our cruise were:
Kids Crew:
Ages 2-5
Ages 6-9
'Tweens Crew ages 10-12
and a teen program (I don't have that info handy).
In order to have age-appropriate activities and comfortable age groupings for the majority of kids, they discourage going outside of your age bracket category. I suppose it depends on the ship the degree of compliance to this, but the belief is that it is better for the group as a whole to respect the parameters.

There was also some information about Junior Star Seekers tryouts, etc, but on our sailing these were changed, as the Junior SS was combined with the adult and rehearsals, etc. were at other times.
The extra charge is $5.00 per hour, per child for the Port Play and late night group sitting. Any additional child within the same family is $3 per hour.
With the night hours in port and the non-stop activity, we didn't get our kids to Kid's Crew all that often. We considered it a success, though, as whenever we had time to get there, the kids wanted to go. From our observation, the counselors were nice, interested in the kids, and hard working.

ughh,
first I wrote this in an office program, so that I could have margins and tabs, etc. When I pasted it over here, all the formatting was lost. From there, I just inserted spaces where I wanted tabs, so that the time schedules would be easier to read. Those went away too, when I hit submit. It was much easier to read the other way, but I hope this gets the information out there okay.

We chose NCl because the grouping in the website and in
their brochere said 9-12. Our kids are 9 and 11.
At the time of the cruise my grandson will be 3 mo away
from 10, and my niece will have just turned 11. They
want to be in the same group. My grandson is probably
as tall as most 11 year olds, so I don't think he is going to
like being in with 6 yearolds. If it comes to that, he will
choose to stay out all together.

Thanks, Chis for posting.
As my sister posted above, we have been given strict instructions by the parents that we keep the cousins together at all times. So hopefully they will allow us to do this. The one thing, by going in September the number of kids will be much smaller then a group going in June so they may allow a bit more
flexibility, especially since the 9 year old is only a couple of months shy of being 10 at the time we cruise.
Appears they keep the kids busy with lots of fun things to do.

Carol (WCAB), ZimmerJulie is the one who deserves the credit.
ZimmerJulie, by the way, does "port play" mean what it seems-- that for a fee the kids crew staff will watch your kids while the ship is in port? I might consider that for a Saturday night stop at Victoria on the star because I'm thinking the young ones will not enjoy Butchart Gardens. It does raise the question on what happens if the port time changes-- does the port play automatically cover the time until the last shore excursion is done?

Yes, Chris, that is what Port Play is. As long as your kids are potty trained, they will watch them while you are in port. I would imagine that if Victoria is extended, they could probably have the program available till 1:00 am, as they usually do for late night babysitting anyway, if there is enough interest.
I don't know how old your kids are, or their interests, but ours really love going to gardens. I do know that we cover considerably less ground with the kids along, as the little one is likely find a sloped path that she likes and just want to run on it for a few hours;) .
On another note:
I hope that the Kids Crew staff can accommodate your needs regarding the cousins and kids staying together in the age groupings. I would say that in September there would be a greater chance of having more ages together in the same group. We had a LOT of families aboard on the June 20 sailing. We all know that it is impossible to pigeon-hole kids and their social/play development or comfort levels. Hopefully it will not be a problem for you.

I, too, what to thank you for the information. I have been on close to 40 cruises, but the next one, Halloween NCL Star, I will be taking my 9 year old nephew. This will be a first for me, a kid on a cruise. Yikes. Looks like he will be more than busy and allow me to relax on the balcony and watch the world go by, for which "nephew" says is "boring dude".

For SeattleChris: My kids loved Butchart Gardens last Saturday because of the "best fireworks show ever". http://www.butchartgardens.com/entertain/fireworks.php
Every Sat. through September. It was truly magnificant and they will love it! My youngest are 13 & 6 yr.old. The gardens are awesome as well. Have a great time!
