For those that did the Antartic, do we tip in American Dollars or is there a protocall?

We had the tips added to our Ship Board Account.
Used USDs for that "little extra".
As far as we can recall, nothing was mentioned about which currency
to use.
When converting USDs to Pesos, use the Money Exchanges.
The banks will only convert $ 100.00 USDs (or more)???
Which is way too much.
The Money Exchanges will convert any amount.
You will need your Passport at both locations.
HAVE A GREAT CRUISE

The US dollar is the currency on the MP no matter where it sails. Tipping and gambling are also done in that currency. I did not change any $US into any other currency while I was on that trip although I visited the Falkland Islands, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. Whatever I might have saved by paying in the currency of those countries, I would have lost in the exchange.
A Visa card and $US are all I needed.

Thanks for the info. What about when you ate in a restaurant in Buenas Aires? Can I just use my American Express?

When we stopped in restraunts, we used Pesos for lunch or coffee.
When we had dinner, we used a credit card; however, we were charged
a conversion rate for Peso/USDs.
The restraunts in Buenos Aires only accept Pesos or Credit Cards.
ENJOY YOUR CRUISE -
We wish that we were going !!! Again

We used USD sometimes in restuarants in Buenos Aires, if we had insufficient pesos. We even mixed currencies when bill splitting, which was no bother to anyone.
Tipping on Marco Polo was in USD which as previously stated by Franu is the currency of the ship. I used cash placed in the envelopes and handed to the recipients personally, so that they got 100% (or at least saw 100%) of the gratuity.

There are ATMs all over B.A. and Ushuaia. You will get a better exchange rate that way, then at a currency place. You can withdraw as little as $100 Pesos (33 US dollars) If you want to use US dollars, they are accepted almost everywhere. Some places just use 3 Pesos per dollar, but most use 3.05 to 3.10 per dollar. Most places will give you change in Pesos though, if you pay with dollars.
