Wondering if anyone knows if the massage therapist is registered?

Powderhorn:

The massage therapists onboard Holland America ships are employees of Steiner Leisure, Ltd., which requires all massage therapists to hold a license in massage therapy, or have a diploma in Swedish/Sports massage, with a minimum of 150 hours experience. Steiner also provides additional training for staff before they place them on the cruiselines.

Here is a link (http://www.str.co.uk/sta.asp)with the pertinent information. Hope my message gets through to you, as these boards have gone completely nuts since Cruise Critic began "upgrading" their website.

I know for a fact that when HAL had dentists onbaord the ships, they started a program of teeth whitening to make money. Dentists spoke at the nightclub the first night out to inform the guests about this proceedure and that it was available. It didn't catch on too well, and then HAL eliminated the dentists from their ships so now if you go to that spa link you will see that the nail technicians are doing teeth whitening. This is kind of scary to me, since I know that the application of this material can cause a great deal of sensitivity to the teeth. How can a nail technician be someone trained to do this. Also, it doesn't sound to me like these massage therapists have enough hours of training. If you have no back issues, it might be ok, but personally, I see people doing this work in nail salons near NYC and wonder about their training which I'm sure is none.
