Can someone fill me in on what is and what is not available on the Noordam as far as cell service goes? Also, is it worth it to bring my own laptop? Will I be able to connect through that with the ship's wireless?
Thanks in advance, folks!

Cell service is now on Noordam; cost is up to your individual provider. As far as the internet service goes, here's a link that can give you some usefull info: http://www.mtnsat.com/digitalseas/hal.htm

Hi, can anyone tell me which ships have cell service? We were just on the Veendam and according to one of their officers, they were geting it last week.

Its supposed to be coming fleetwide but we were not given an indication when the subject came up during a Q/A on Noordam.

He was just finishing up the install, so the Big Z should be good to go now. Service will be fleet wide some time in early 2007.

Thanks for the info Navy_Chief and Bruce-r, we will be on the Ryndam in April and was hopping it would be up and working on our cruise. My DH is still working and it makes my life so much better if he can stay in contact with his office.

It's a shame he can't go on vacation and just forget about work. I refuse to let that part of my life interfere with a vacation.

In actuality Navy_Chief, he stress more when he can't call into work. It works out great for me because his boss doesn't really care where he is at, as long as he get his job done. So I get to cruise more and when we're in port he talks on the phone and I get to shop, keeps him from being bored with shopping. Also he is only suppose to take off 4 weeks a year but with being able to keep in touch with work, we usually sneak in a few more weeks.

I sailed the Noordam in Dec and had the best cell phone service of any cruise ship, regardless of line, with my Verizon phone.

Thanks for the info. Have you received you bill yet? Were the charges billed as a roaming rate or international rate? Thanks!
