Thanks for the review of the Volendam. I enjoyed reading it.

I found your comment about the Statendam interesting. I also sailed on this ship last Oct and found the food and service to be the best . It exceeded my expectations.

You seem to have run into what I did on the Rotterdam in April. I agree, 20 minutes from the time you have your plate removed until you get coffee is a bit to much.

I'm sailing on the Volendam later this year and I've been reading many reviews on this ship from a number of sources.

I'm afraid I'm having second thoughts on sailing the Volendam. I've read more disappointing reviews than positive ones.

It seems many people from inside cabins to S catagory suites have many complaints about this ship.

I hope they have their act together by the time I sail because I love to write glowing reviews of my cruises and I'd not want this one to be a negative review.

I'm wondering if some people are just hooked on a ship for whatever reason and love it no matter what the condition is. Sort of reminds me of people defending their favorite politician, making excuses, defenses and explanations no matter how terrible he/she is actually doing!

You know..."My ship, right or wrong, good or bad..."

I don't think the Volendam will be a disappointment for you. We cruised the Alaska Inside Passage last July and our trip exceeded our expectations! We are not "two-digit" cruisers (10 or more cruises) yet, but, for what it's worth, here's my review of our Volendam cruise:

It has been a while but the Volendam, is a beautiful ship. One nice feature was the added elevators and staircase in the center of the ship.
