Hi. I know people have asked about this before, but could someone tell me what is the best way from MCO to the ship? We are flying from NYC and am astounded that there isn't a shuttle or bus that makes a regular run even it wasn't managed by Disney. I am not too thrilled about renting a car one way, trying to get from the rental place to the ship etc.

Thanks.

fkwok,

there are lot's of options. You can use the Disney Transfers that are right at the airport. You can rent a car. You can have a car services pick you up. There are several car services and depending on how many are in your group that might be the cheapest way to go. They will also make a grocery stop if there are things you want to pick up.

Use the Disney Busses - very convenient. Can't recall the cost, but if you are spending the big $ to cruise on Disney, the extra $ for a Disney transfer will not be a big deal

For us it was cheaper to take a towncar and for a little extra we took a limo to and from port. I would rather ride in complete comfort without feeling like one of the "herded cattle" so often referred to when others talk about the DCL buses. Plus with a towncar or limo you can decide when you want to be picked up and dropped off without waiting for a bus to arrive or for a bus to fill up before leaving. Just something to think about. Good luck!

PS...We used Cartier towncar who supplied us with Disney movies for the kids to watch in the limo. Friendly staff and overall good experience.

Unless things have changed, I would certainly not refer to the Disney Busses as herded cattle.

very comfortable, no problem getting one at MCO. No long wait, and a special pre-cruise video to enjoy on the ride down.

While I have criticized Disney for the price of their cruises - the Disney Bus transfer is one thing they do very well IMO

All of the methods have their pros and cons. We used to take the bus for our first Disney cruises and always enjoyed the video, but we often sat in front of "sugar kids" who kicked the seat the whole way (can't really blame them...when you're full of excitement, it's hard to sit still). Then we started using a towncar from Happy Limo, which is my preferred method. We have also tried a rental car (got Budget one way from Hotwire) and that was pretty painless if you'te lazy like me.

To each his own. I still would rather ride a limo or towncar than a DCL bus any day especially if the price is the approx the same. Not trying to start an argument, just wanted OP to know my experience and things I have heard as well. Good luck fkwok!

No problem - I just didn't want people to get the wrong impression with the herded cattle comment. Obviously everyone should do what the feel comfortable with

Hi. Wow. Thanks for all the info! I did NOT realize there were DCL shuttle b/c the Disney website never mentions 'em. Or did I completely miss that? Could someone tell me the price b/c mentioned the $$$. Is it a loooooong ride? Thanks.

From the quote I received yesterday it was $49.00 per person.

We were on the NCL Dawn a couple of weeks ago and rented a car from Port Canveral to Disney and it was an hour at the most. We drove right by the airport so I would say maybe around 45 minutes. It was a very easy and direct ride.

DCL Shuttle is $49.00 RT per person. It's a big bus with videos and Disney on the side. If you have more than 3 in your party it can be cheaper to get a car service. Plus to have a limo pick the kids up is pretty neat. But the DCL transfer is a great service. If you come down the day before though, no transfers to the Port unless you return to MCO the morning of your cruise.

We prefer a towncar since we usually go to WDW first and then end our vacation with a cruise. It costs our family of four $110 to go from WDW to PC and $65 from PC to MCO.

I don't know the exact schedule of the buses, but I do know they won't pick you up at your resort and drop you off at the port. If you have a family of four or five I recommend a towncar service.

I have no problem with the DCL busses, they are just not my first choice.

P.S. I almost forgot there is a lot good information on Dave's DCL Tribute site (http://www.dcltribute.com/).

Wow - prices for that have really gone up. As much as I liked the Disney shuttle - I would have to reconsider now with 3 of us

Rent a car (one-way) from Avis. Drive straight down the Beeline Expressway to the Avis shop. Avis is about 1 mile past the port on the left. Return the car, hop on their shuttle and they take you directly to the port. On the return, hop on the Avis shuttle to their shop, rent the car and drive directly to the airport. It can't get any easier. The best part of driving yourself is the ability to stop at Walmart, grocery store or Ron Jon's to pick up any last minute supplies. All of this will cost you about $30 each way. Not $49 per person DCL charges.

One other thing to consider if you use the Disney transfer or one of limo services. Someone ELSE will help shlep luggage for you. We have done the DCL buses and a towncar. The towncar is nice and comfy. The buses were too but a little "noisey". We wil use a TC from now on probably if for no other reason than the grocery stop.
