Need some advise. Currently on the 4/1/07 sailing on the Opera but they've changed their itinerary so that St. Thomas is in place of Tortola. While we like St. Thomas, we have been there MANY times on cruises and were really looking forward the Tortola. Have the option to book the 4/18/07 on the Lirica which will sail to Tortola. Would cost $100 pp. Would you stay with what you have or switch?

Opera and Lirica are sister ships, have two cruises on each, prefer Lirica. St.Thomas doesn't do anthing for us either.

Have recently sailed and stopped in Tortola - if you like snorkeling and are willing to hop a ferry to the Bathes at Virda Gorda it will be an experience you will never forget - I would do that again and again before going back to St Thomas -but overall getting away from routines is always as fun as you make it -Good Sailing

We love to hang out around or overlooking the harbor in St Thomas and like trying restaurants and bars up the mountains a ways. We also like Tortola but there don't seem to be as many easily accessible places with a view to hang out. The Baths on Virgin Gorda are beautiful so I would think it would be a great place for your water activities.

Are we all sure Opera is going to St. Thomas on the April 1 cruise? We got our tickets today and it says nothing about St. Thomas. My confirmation when I booked did say St. Thomas. I would rather go to Tortola, becuase we have never been there. I am aware of how the web site says that for this cruise they are going to St. Thomas. It's just curious that the information that came today says otherwise. Has anybody called the cruise line recently?

We are sailing on the OPERA on 3/10 w/ Tortola on the itin., however we only have 5 hours there, (9-2) and I don't know if that is enough time to get to the Baths. Perhaps someone can answer that for you before you change itin. It is an hour each way. (ferry and cab) Does anyone know if MSC offers an excursion? It would be too risky to do on your own - timewise.

We are planning on going to the Bath's as well. I went to the MSC web site and pulled up the itinerary for the 03/10 cruise, when you click on a port it shows you all the excursions that are available. There is one listed for the Bath's and I think it is for four hours, all in all it appears we would only have about 2 hours at the Bath's but I can live with that, I really want to see them.

Thanks for that info. This is one trip I do not want to book on the outside as we sail at 2 pm. We have one couple traveling w/ us that only books through the ship, however I am comfortable booking privately as long as we don't sail early. I have not had a problem w/ that in the past. The ships tours are usually huge, long lines and seldom better than the private tours. Just 2 cents worth.
