Hi all.
Does anyone know if you can view your onboard account and book shore excursions through the in-cabin tv? Whoops, nearly forgot, the ship is Noordam.
Thanks

I know that you can't do either of those things via the
TV in the cabin.
With on-board charges keep your charge slips together. The day before the end of the cruise you will get a preliminary statement that you can check your slips against. If there's an error you can go to the Front Desk to have it corrected. If there's no error you can toss the slips then. I keep the preliminary statement, but have never needed it again.
The final morning you will get the final statement. Pick up with your additional slips where you left off the day before.
You can book shore excursions several ways. You can book on-line in advance up until 10 days before sailing.
If you wait until you board you can complete a shore-excursion form and drop it off at the Shore Excursion Desk. They don't need to be open for this.
There are several kiosks around the ship where you can book a shore excursion. You need your cabin key/sign & sail card at the kiosk.
Last, you can go to the Shore Excursion Desk when they are open and talk to someone there/book your excursion.

I hope HAL improves this. Being able to check your account online as on other lines would greatly reduce those lines at Guest Services. It's fine to hold on to all your receipts but it's the charges on your account that you didn't authorise that most people want to protect against.
We liked on other lines that we could look at a video preview of an excursion and choose it. Again, this reduces the line at the actual desk and then those who actually have questions can ask them more quickly.

If you are worried about how much you are spending, you can always go to the front desk and ask for a copy of your bill any time you want to. You don't have to wait until the next to the last day of the cruise for your preliminary account. They will be more than happy to run off a copy for you.

Absolutely correct.
And, for a cruise longer than about 10 days I would HIGHLY recommend keeping track of one's onboard account about once a week. Last time I cruise for 21 days I checked my account once a week, just to see how we were doing. The second week of the cruise I noticed a very bad error ... shore excursions that I didn't order or take debited to my account. I went over and checked on them with the shore excursions desk, first ... their records correctly showed what I had ordered and signed for, and did NOT show what the print out I had received from the Front Desk showed. Hence, it was easy to get the charges removed from me and moved to the cabin that they belonged to. Turns out it was a key-entry error. Happens. But it would have been more difficult to spot on the last day, with a bill 3 times as long to scrutinize. :)
In short, for those on a longer cruise I suggest checking one's account once a week. It keeps one from being "shocked." Expenses DO add up!
