Hi there,

We were wanting to take a few bottles of our favourite wine onboard the Pacific Princess this week, we cannot purchase this wine onboard.. as it is not available.

It is for a special occassion,...has anyone taken wine or champagne onboard this ship recently while she has been sailing Australian waters?

Thank you in advance for any help..much appreciated..

S&D, We have taken champagne onboard Pacific Princess and carry it in our carry-on luggage...have not had any problems. We bubble wrap the bottles.
They do not like spirits taken aboard but I've heard people put these in check-in luggage (not us, too scared of breakage;) Hubby likes to take bottle of scotch with him for the cabin and we have taken this in carry-on bag too (bubble and gift wrapped) Last trip his bag was x-rayed and his bag was searched...luckily he had binoculars at the top and the security officer thought this was what was seen on the x-ray. Don't know why my bag with champagne was not questioned but Princess does allow wine to be taken onboard. Maybe if we take spirits again we will put this in plastic flask:p

You can take bottled wine for personal consumption on board the Pacific Princess. We did this in December 2005 on our trip. I just checked the www.pocruises.com.au (http://www.pocruises.com.au) web site for the current Pacific Princess alcohol policy and it says (http://www.pocruises.com.au/html/policies_pacific_princess.cfm) "Passengers are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption other than wine and champagne. Wine and champagne purchased ashore and brought to the restaurants for consumption will be charged a corkage fee."

We consumed ours in our room :)

Hi, You can take as much wine on board as you are willing to carry. We never bother as we really like to try the different wines. The Pacific Princess has some really good ones :D If you want to take it to the dining room they will charge you $10 corkage. I would suggest you open in your room and consume it there. - Mummsie :D

Thanks for those replies everyone..

you are all very helpful!..our favourite wine is the good old Oz... SPARKLING reds..:) ...shiraz/burgandy...and they don't appear on any Princess wine list or P&O that we have seen...so we always try to take some along. Many thanks to you all.

Last year on Pacific Princess, Sydney to Osaka at embarkation I brought on board 2 x 2 litre casks of nice chardie, no problems, had it in cabin or on deck at sailaways. On reboarding at ports also brought on a dozen beers no problem, declared it to Security, if PP still has the two Canadians as Senior Security, you should have no probs.

Enjoy PP..she is a great little ship.

Thanks to all for your replies...

we will take along a few bottles, and pay the corkage no worries!:)

We are hoping the seas will be calm once we are a day or 2 out of Sydney, we are really looking forward to a nice relaxing time on the ship!

Warm wishes...

Hi

Are you able to take as much wine and champagne on the Pacific Sun as well?

Thanks:confused:

You can take wine and champagne on the Pacific Sun (and the Pacific Star) but it will be confiscated on boarding and held in bond until the last day of your cruise. The same applies to spirits, beer and any alcohol. It's not worth the risk trying to smuggle it on board - they Xray all luggage (including hand luggage). P&O Australia has a different on-board alcohol policy to Princess. Even though the Pacific Priness is seconded to P&O Australia for the local cruise season she sails under Princess policies.

The Sun Princess allows wine & champagne onboard in the US, but when it is "seconded" to P&O later this year, the policy is definately P&Os - No alcohol is to be taken onboard for personal consumption.
