As of this New Year I am told that the Paul Gauguin has free booze on board ffor its passengers(except premiums)
Can I order a Chi Chi and it's free or is it just at dinner time???

All inclusive booze means 24/7 anytime you wish......so yes you can order a cocktail outside of dinner hours.

I agree with canadagal.
BUT.....what on earth is a Chi Chi? Is it legal for consenting adults?
You tend to have different names for cocktails in the USA than here in England.

It is a fabulous drink made with vodka, pineapple juice and coconut milk...truly a tropicall drink. The drinks name changes when you change the booze ie same stuff with rum instead of vodka the drink becomes a Mai Tai !!! All served with a chunk of pineapple on the rim and a little unbrella for looks ....UMMMH :D

Degas:
Unless you order your Chi Chi with what Regent calls a "premium" vodka (which I would call a "super premium" vodka), it will be at no charge 24/7.
Thanks,
Richard

So... I am not a big drinker. From college days my favorite
was whiskey sours. With all-inclusive, this is free?:confused:

The word "free" does not go well with the fares Regent charges these days, so let's say that it is "included at no extra charge" -- unless of course you specify what I would call a "super premium whiskey, which Regent calls "premium" If you do, there will be an extra charge.
Thanks,
Richard

Thanks, Degas. I googled Chi Chi to find that it was, amongst other things, a pet name for Jacques Chirac, the Frnch President! However, now I know. I have had Mai Tai a few times in the Far East. Super drink, if you like a bit of sweetness occasionally.
By the way, I like your paintings! :)

Mais non! A chi-chi made with rum is NOT a mai tai; it is a piña colada.
A mai tai is made with light rum, Myers dark rum, orgeat (almond) syrup and various fruit juices. No coconut milk, ever.

Another great drink we had on the Mariner is a Ping Pong. They served it in Latitudes and I was able to get it at the bar. I think it was Citron Vodka, PassionFruit Juice, Lychee Juice and a little sugar. I may be missing one ingredient....but it was GOOD.:)

Does this mean that any top shelf liquor is an additional charge?
Thanks.

It depends upon what Regent is defining as "top shelf" at this time. I last cruised Regent back in late '05 when it was not yet "all inclusive" and they provided "room bottles." Back then, Grey Goose vodka was provided to the rooms at no extra charge. I must confess that I do not know what "premium" brands are "at extra cost" now.
Thanks,
Richard

Just back from the first leg of the WC and the all-inclusive is really great. Unless you want a single malt scotch, or something like that, you can order just about anything you want. RSSC has it right this time!

Does anyone know if you can still order a bottle for your cabin with mixers or do you now have to call up room service every time you need your drink refilled. I really wouldn't care if we had to pay for the bottle and mixers.

You can still get a bottle in your room. Just ask your stewardess.

last month on the PG everything but the 18yr old scotch was included,
they really don't want to have to charge you.....
if anyone is going on the PG soon, have Tess make you a BBC at the pool bar...

Thanks curiouscruiser! Are the mini fridges still in the cabin or have they been removed?

Thanks dougburns! I'm happy to hear that they didn't take them out when they went all inclusive.

Just returned from the PG and the refrigerators are still in the rooms and they're stocked with sodas, water & beer. We booked last year before they went all-inclusive and we had our two bottles in our room. No one knew if they were going to continue doing this or not. I had a Grey Goose martini every night in La Pallette and a Glenfiddich port after dinner and they were included. I didn't see a menu of booze they charge for, but they do have a seperate wine list you can purchase from if you don't want the wine they're serving for lunch or dinner. I thought the "house" wines they served were pretty good. You can get a Chi Chi, Mai Tai, or any mixed drink, beer and wine from any bar at any time for no charge.

We just did the Segment #1 Amazon River cruise aboard the Mariner. 01/09/07 to 01/20/07
To our surprise as we got to our cabin the cabin attendent was waiting for us to show us the list of liquor we could order for our cabin.
We got Crown Royal and Grey Goose. The refrigerator was stocked with 6 pack of beer which I had switched to Bud Light. (Just can't do real beer of any kind anymore LOL), and the water and sodas were replaced every day.
Another couple we met said they received 2 bottles each of what they wanted. They had Drambuie, Grey Goose, Bailey's, and Ballentine's.
And this does not count the bottle of champagne on ice as you enter your cabin.

The Regent website refers to cabin setup for butler suites only. I'm wondering what category you were in.
I'd still like to mix a before bed drink in the suite, so I'm hoping we can still get a bottle or two for the cabin. I'll be in FLL for a couple of days before the crossing, so can stop at a store if necessary, but it would be more convenient not to have to drag any more baggage.

Hi, we were on the Navigator New Year's cruise (all-inclusive liquor) and were in a regular balcony suite (no butler). We mentioned to our stewardess that we liked Campari, and she ended up bringing us two bottles of it for our room. As it turns out, given the all-inclusive, we ended up having only one drink in our room during the whole cruise - and left the bottle of champagne plus all the Campari in our room when we disembarked since we didn't want to try to deal with it in our suitcases.
Hope that helps! Also, does anyone know what happens to open bottles of alcohol if they are left in the room. Do they have to pour them out or can the crew take them for thier parties?

I understand that they consider it too risky for consumption by staff, so it is poured down the drain. It's a shame and with the new carry-on rules, I'm sure a lot more goes to waste.

You can ask for a bottle in your stateroom and it is provided. I was concerned about that in a Cat E, since I like to have a drink or two in the afternoon while having a read on the balcony. No problem. Don't know what you're referring to relative to new carry-on rules. To my knowledge you can still bring your own stuff aboard.

I am relieved to hear that since my wife and I enjoy a gin & tonic occasionally and prefer to make up our own when we want it rather than having to contact room service, obliging though they always are.
