Which cruise? from which category to what did you get upgraded? how long before sailing? Anything else you might think is interesting... :p

VE guarantee to VA on both the Westerdam and Noordam, about 2 weeks prior to sailing IIRC. HH guar to FF on the Veendam 17 days out. On the Amsterdam '02 it was something like F to E, and we didn't find out until we checked in, because that was our first HAL cruise and we didn't know anything about upgrades or how to check on them --- if it was even possible to do so then. :)

From an N to a K on the Zaandam - happened 11 days before sail date.

On two sailings I had booked the lowest category inside cabin as a guarantee, and both times I have been bumped to Ocean view cabins. Both times the cabin numbers weren't assigned until about a week before sailing.

The best, and most unexpected upgrade was last year on the Veendam. Booked a Cat BC Verandah guarantee and about 4 weeks before sailing we were assigned a Cat A Verandah stateroom. Then, less than a week before sailing we were bumped up to an S-Suite. Our only complaint was that it was only a 2 day coastal cruise! But we loved it :) Though I'd NEVER expect to see that happen on a longer cruise.

Upgraded from Cat. B to Cat. S twice and from B to PHS once. Notified twice the day before we left by our TA and once while we were waiting for a connecting flight at Charlotte for Fort Lauderdale. TA tracked us down and notified us at the airport via the PA system. What a pleasant surprise.

Westerdam sailing, booked cat N guarantee, got a category GG 4095, three rooms from midship with floor to ceiling windows and lined up just right with the lifeboat windows we could see EVERYTHING! :)

Volendam sailing, booked a HH guarantee and a category A 7037. Again, right at midship and had a BLAST!

I'm booked in a VF guarantee on the Oosterdam 3 day PNW Cruise, so I'm hoping the trend will continue and we'll get a superior or deluxe suite! *fingers crossed* :cool:

Westerdam to Alaska 9/06. Booked an SZ guarantee and was upgraded to an SC aft corner cabin about 12 days before sailing. The other 2 couples at our table were also upgraded to full suites, one from a VA and one from an SS. It was a wonderful surprise.
