The past 3 cruises i've done (the last one being Sept 2005) we've always just booked the shore tours when we got on board the ship. The lady who delivers our mail to work is going on the Star next week and just told me that they have already booked all of their shore tours. Is this the 'norm' now? Can anyone tell me what happens? Do they send info with your tickets? Can you still book on board or do you have to book before leaving? Thanks in advance.

We received our tickets for our cruise on Monday.
There is a shore tours book and booking form included with the tickets.
We chose our tour in Vila (the only port we go to that has shore tours) and faxed it off to P&O on Tuesday morning.
We received a confirmation letter from our Travel Agent today saying our tour has been booked. :) (Glass Bottom Boat and Snorkelling Safari)
To check out all the shore tours, you can go to P&O's website www.pocruises.com.au (http://www.pocruises.com.au) and find an upcoming cruise.
Yours will probably be too far away for them to have done the shore tours yet as our cruise in November still has not been updated with the tours.
The shore tours available are all mentioned in detail along with the prices.
You can book on board, but I would be worried that they would all be fully booked and we would miss out. At least now I know that we are confirmed for our Vila tour. It is very exciting to do all the planning.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that :) I will book before leaving then, just so we don't miss out on a spot.
One thing I did find interesting were the prices. We honeymooned in Vila in October and wanted to do the Vanuatu Jet Boat. We were quoted $45 but P&O's price is $67 (from memory looking at their site).
We couldn't get on the jet because there was a ship in town when we wanted to go and P&O had booked out every seat!! So I really, really, really want to get seats on it for the cruise :)
