Any info on the Port of Seattle, specifically where Holland America's ships dock (which pier?) would be much appreciated. How long to get to the pier from the airport? How much for a taxi? (Is a taxi the way to go?) Is there anything to do around the pier area. My last cruise was out of Vancouver and there was lots and lots to do just a few footsteps away. Is Seattle the same?
Thank you much! :)

Holland America uses Terminal 30 in Seattle, which is in an industrial and commercial area immediately south of downtown (about a 10 minute taxi ride). It's a 25 minute taxi ride to the airport. Off the top of my head, I can't tell you what the taxi fares are, but it won't be much from Terminal 30 to downtown. Seattle has a lot to do, but not right near Terminal 30. Here is a link to the Port of Seattle's Cruise Info (http://www.portseattle.org/seaport/cruise/index.shtml).

Hmm. I just Google mapped it and it looks like the pier is next to a sea of concrete. Oh well.

Hello Nghthawke,
This link brings you to HAL's site and has a lot of the answers you (and I) are looking for http://www.hollandamerica.com/dest/port.do?portCode=SEA&dest=A&from=homeport&view=port

Pier 30 is used by HAL and Princess and sometimes RCI. Though I live in the area I do not take taxi's but I believe that cabs have a set fee from SeaTac to downtown Seattle. It is something like $28. Time from Sea Tac to the pier would be about 15-20 minutes.

Pier 30 is located in a very industrial area of Seattle that includes cargo container operations. Nothing to do there but it is a very short taxi ride to the ‘tourist’ section. The one thing that you will appreciate is that once the ship starts its voyage, you will have a terrific panoramic view of the city as you head north out of Elliot Bay.

Pier 30 is about a $10 including tip taxi ride to the Pike Place Market, which is a good starting point for things to do downtown. I think the Port of Seattle requires cabs that pick up passenger at SeaTac to charge a flat rate to downtown. Check the Port of Seattle website for more information.
You can also walk to downtown, maybe a 20-25 minute walk. There are sidewalks along side a very busy street.
It's interesting to note that the Port of Seattle will build a new cruise terminal at Pier 91 and convert Pier 30 to container use. I can't remember whether Pier 91 will open in 2008 or 2009.
