Hi All

Can feel the excitement from cruisers soon to go on - it's starting to catch on to me as well!!! :D

Just wondering how bad are the snakes at Amedee Island? I'm a little worried about them - ahh! :( Also the lunch buffet sounds great - has anyone else done this whole day tour and what's it like?

I've done the Amedee Island tour (in Feb) and it was fantastic - definitely one of the highlights of the cruise.

My partner went to Amedee in high school, and had warned me about the snakes, but when we got there we only saw 3, and they weren't interested in humans at all. In fact, the only time I saw them go near someone was when one of the cruisers decided to try and poke it with a stick and it tried to get away...the people just happened to be in it's path.

The good thing about them is that they are slow, and you can see them from a mile away, so you'd have plenty of time to get out of it's way!

It could have just been the time of year, or the weather, but there was certainly not the hundreds of snakes I had heard about - so maybe it will be the same for you?

As for the lunch, it was so yummy! They had a few different areas set up: one with salads, one with hot food (including seafood) and one with desserts. Just a tip - the banana pudding looks gross, but it's pretty yummy!!!!!!!!!!!

Have fun - I know you will!!!!!!! :D

Thanks Saf that's makes me feel better - ooh just the thought of hundreds of snakes - my imagination went a bit wild I think!! :o

That lunch sounds fantastic - been looking through past threads and everyone raves about it.

Also have you done the Lagoon boat ride on "the barge" in Vila? Apparantly includes a cocktail.

Thanks Liz :)

Don't worry about the snakes - they're small, there's not that many and they (apparently) can't bite humans anyway, their mouths are too small or something. When we went there in March '97 there were only a dozen or so - and the ones we saw were only the size of a small lizard, swimming around in the rocks.
Amedee is definitely worth going to - it's a shame you can't do it on cruises out of Brisbane.:(
