Another poster was kind enough to send me the daily schedules from the Inside Passage cruise we'll be sailing in August. I was looking through the activities and noted several mentions of something called "shipbuilders and rockin' rolldies". Can anyone tell me what this is?

My husband and I are also looking forward to trying the not-so-newlywed game. Do you know if everyone who wishes can participate, or is there only room for a certain number of couples? With only 15 years under our belts, I'm sure we'd be tromped, but it sounds so fun!

Thanks!

These are two different activities. Have not done shipbuilding. Rockin' Rolldies is a fun show where people lip synch to some great old songs. Most acts are group acts, little talent required, just a willingness to get up in front of an audience and have fun. It is usually well attended.

For the not-so newly wed game, the cruise staff calls on three couples with various years of marriage from just a few to 50 years or more. Get to know the cruise staff early in the cruise - who knows, you might be lucky!

:) Shipbuilder's

At the begining of the cruise, there will be announcement in the daily program for a get together for people who want to build a ship.

They have 4 - 10 days depending on length of cruise to build a ship out of materials found on board. The ship must be able to float, withstand rough seas, and hold cargo. The test is done in one of the whirlpools usually on the last sea day. We have seen some pretty good boats and knew that they had brought the materials on board with them in anticipation of this activity.

Sometimes there may be only 1 or 2 boats - other times there may be 6.

We have been on a couple of cruises when this activity wasn't offered.

Rockin Rolldies is great fun! Talent certainly not required, just a willingness to do something that is a lot of fun! I have been Leslie Gore three times. Guess I should try something else! :D
