Your tickets will probably arrive pretty soon. Ring your TA to see if they have them already, given that you sail in less than a month and its usual for them to arrive about a month out from departure.

your cabin number may not appear on the CP. Did you request a certain cabin or category when you booked?

Hi Den,

We are also on this cruise and we have had our tickets from our travel agent for 2 weeks. Our shore tours are already booked.

I would be checking it out if I were you. Hound your agent.

This is the link to the roll call board for the Pacific Sun. You can find the thread for our cruise on it and post there. It will be nice to have someone else from here going along. It doesn't seem to be a very popular one. :o

Good luck and post back to let us know how you got on. :)

I am on that cruise as well and got my tickets a week or so ago I think. we don't have any cabin number yet either.. I keep checking... I'm hoping to be upgraded from the "T" grade we paid for, but if we get that it'll be ok.
I would also check with the TA in regards to your tickets.. it's getting close...

Thanks for that.I had better call the TA on Tuesday. We are staying in"L" category upper deck 6,When we booked we thought it was the Empress deck7 but P&O changed the cabin gradings as of N714:( mind you we dont know what to expect anyway.I should have looked up Cruise Critic b4 we booked to find the best cabin position for the price,my main concern is that we dont have a window,is it worth paying the extra? Thanks again for the replies .

my opinion is as long as your towards the middle of the ship on any deck, i think thats the best position.

We had an inside cabin last time and the only thing i didnt like with not having a window is when you wake up it is pitch black, so i didnt have a clue what time it was! On one occasion i woke up, thinking it was about 6am and decided to go up to lido deck to grab a cuppa and it was really only 4am:eek: I found it a little eerie wondering around the ship at that time of the morning!!I felt perfectly safe, It was just very quiet!

We hardly spent any time in our cabin so having a window didnt really bother us!! Too many things to do to be sitting around in your cabin!!

We had an inside cabin last time and I thought 'never again'. I really hated walking down the long corridors and when people opened their doors, seeing inside their cabins and seeing that they had a great view of sun and sea. Then we went into our dark cave. I was very envious.

It depends on what sort of person you are.
Some people never go into their cabin unless they are changing or sleeping, some like to have an afternoon rest and prefer the privacy of their own space for a snooze or a quiet read.

This time we have an outside cabin booked, midships on Empress.

We don't like shows or bars much and after dinner, always took a big stroll around deck and retired to our cabin to read or watch a movie.

Waking up to morning light would be great too. People have suggested that you turn the tv on to the webcam channel. The idea is that when the sun comes up, the screen will lighten and you will wake up.

This didn't work, as a tv that is turned on is never black, it glowed silver all night and kept us awake.

We had an alarm clock. :(

We have a balcony cabin booked for our cruise in November. :D :D

I've been in inside and outside, outside is better but inside to us was fine. It was a bit wierd waking up in the pitch black, and you have to have the lights on whenever you're inside. In 2005 we were at the very front of the ship, it didnt feel much different to times when Ive been in the middle of the ship. You are really going to enjoy your cruise no matter what cabin you're in!
Are you sharing a cabin with the other couple? I shared with another couple in March last year on the Star. It worked out pretty good especially for the money we saved and luckily for you the Sun 4 berth cabins are bigger than the Star.
What dinner sitting are you booked into? We are late sitting which is pretty late but theres no rush to get ready for dinner, and it gives time for lunch to go down!

I would check out the price difference between the inner and outer and if itsn't too much would go for the window, even if you drop a deck or too. theres no difference between the deck cabins.Might be worth a check if they are not filling up. I loved sometimes being in the cabin on my own in the evening and turning out the lights and looking out the window. The lights from the ship light up a fair area and you can see the churning sea. Wouldn't like to be in it though  Made me shudder when i heard about that couple that "fell" of the balcony

NOT HAPPY:mad:.I just phoned P&O to try and arrange ship to airport transfers, and have been advised that our group of 4 has been booked in by our T/A as two groups of 2,and was told that we probably wont be sitting on the same table for dinner and chances of cabins being close together is going to be remote,Toni at P&O was so helpful, she said our T/A must call P&O asap to try to rectify ,trouble is T/A is at home noshing easter eggs:confused: When did Saturday become a public holiday:confused:,Cabin numbers are being allocated and I hope tuesday is not too late, our T/A is hard to get hold of at the best of times(take the money and run) Also our tickets were sent out mid March according to P&O,we phoned the T/A last week about tickets,no reply, emailed her,no reply, next time I will pay the extra and book direct

I am going to assume that your T/A is an accredited agency ?......very very poor service.. i would definately ask for that persons boss and insist action is taken immediately...be firm and stand up to them.... don't hesitate in contacting P&O again if you don't get the answers... I am sure everything will be worked out for you and believe me it's not like that all the time. cheers shiona

Hi there, I hope you receive documentation soon, I can't offer anything regarding cabin allocation other than see the passenger service desk (purser), if it is a full ship you may have trouble.
don't panic over the dining arrangements...as soon as you board ship, find out what time matre'd is working....go to him, and explain situation, and he will do his best...always worked for us.
next time change T.A's , but that is not the point is it.????
she is being paid to give you the service you are obviously not getting..
kind regards, Lorraine:)

First, thanks to all the cruisers that have given me some great info:)
Now,I have a question about cabin upgrades, this is the first chat line I have ever been on as well as the first cruise,so i am sorry if I am doing this all wrong,I dont want to ask questions on somebody else's post and I dont want to look like i am doing that bumping thing so if anyone wants to correct me thats fine:cool:
Back to cabin upgrades,I have already upgraded from riviera inside twin bunks to upper deck inside queen(At the time thought it was empress but P&O changed gradings on the sun as of 30th april) And yes I know I should have gone "outside" in the first place :mad:but does any body know if paid upgrades are available on the day of the cruise? if so is it a bit cheaper than trying to do it now? especially given the trouble i have had with my T/A so far:rolleyes:
Also any thoughts on cabin types and weather the are even relevant or not(given the amount of time spent in them) would be great.
Thanks Den (3weeks to go:D)

Hi there, you can sometimes buy upgrades on board ship...but only if there are plenty of cabins available.
The pursers desk will put up a sign...sorry full ship. no upgrade available etc.
the price of upgrades depends on what the daily rate of that particular cabin was.
we cruise a fair bit each year, where we are on the ship doesn't matter, but if this is to be your cruise of a lifetime, then go for the best you can afford.
I find it doesn't matter what deck you are on, inside or out, as long as you are near the centre.
look at the ship plans, try not to be under kitchen, or other areas where there will be noise at night. nor next to a laundry..

of course all of that depends on if you have paid normal price(where you do get to choose your cabin) or a bargain fare where you take what they give you. I choose the latter, because I can put the extra money toward my next cruise..

kindest regards, Lorraine:)

Thanks Lorraine,I dont know if we paid full price or cut price,$1850.00 each including airfare from Perth for 10 nights on the Sun,but I suppose that would be the cheap price because the CP only states the class of cabin as "L"and nothing under "cabin requested".I would think now that if we paid full price our T/A would have suggested a cabin request .
