We leave Friday for our Zaandam cruise. We are good at packing for the Caribbean, but not quite so sure about Alaska. We have some lists that should help, but what should we wear while whale watching with Captain Larry in Juneau? Thanks!!!!

:)
Layers! We wore about 3 layers - the outer garment being waterproof.
Then as we got warm, we just took one layer off at a time.
If your tour is one of the early morning ones, you might want a hat and gloves.

If Alaska is anything in addition to beautiful, it's unpredictable! I would definitely plan on wearing layers. You can never tell what the weather will do, and being able to slip a jacket, sweatshirt or sweater on or off will make all the difference in your comfort level.

I really don't think the whales care what you wear!

like2cruise, you will LOVE Captain Larry's Whale Watch,:D His Catermarans are practically brand new. The 2 lower levels are totally enclosed and very comfortable. They also supply binoculars. The viewing from the bottom level was fanatastic with windows so clean you have no idea you are taking the pictures thru glass. They do allow you to go up on the top level, we did not because the viewing was great on the bottom level plus not as much motion. I was very impressed with their operation. It was actually quite warm on the boat and I actually took my jacket off. If you are interested I can email you pictures of the Captain Larry's boat and whales from the whale watch. my email is laffnvegas@aol.com

Capt Larry was great - we booked him on our own several years ago when we took a NCL cruise to Alaska. Other than dressing for the weather that day, I don't think you need anything special.
The boat was enclosed so no wind to deal with. When we found the whales, Capt larry pretty much shut down the boat and drifted in place - so going outside was fun - but no real wind from boat movement - just the Alaskan temperature / weather that day
