I may be making a one person wave from the Diamond Princess Sunday May 6th at 5:30.
Is that permissable to mention on the HAL board?:D

No! You'll be banned forever! ;)
That will be neat. We enjoyed sailing the Diamond last January. A very nice ship ... but it's not HAL.

I think it would be alright if you say 4 HAL Marys afterwards. Then you must walk backward 10 steps.
Have a great cruise, Tinknock:p

Uh-oh....maybe I could change my screen name and get around the ban?
Well if I could say it on the HAL board, I would add I will be waving from Sun deck which is on top of the bridge.

Just thought of something....We are in one of the BA handicap starboard cabins toward the forward section of the ship. If we are in the Oosterdams normal berth, I could be seen by the camera while on our balcony!

How about if I click my heels three times and chant "There's no place like HAL, there's no place like HAL......

Sean, I hear Peggy is saying that this week while she has been on the Golden;)
Now back to the original question. Is Sail Away at 5:30? Wouldn't you want to do a Wave before then? If you are all the way forward on the Starboard side and they are on the right side of the pier then yes we should see you. If you want I can call you and we can do the Wave. I would definitely be home on Sunday to capture it.

Lisa,
Our sailaway is actually the day before from San Pedro (no cam:( ) We have a sailaway party planned for our CC group.
San Diego is our first port day. I will be bicycling on Coronado Island in the morning, but I should be back on board by noon.
The Diamond sails from SD at 6:00....just thought 5:30 would be good time just before we cast off.

I see the Infinity is in port with us. I wonder which one will get the dock on the right?

That is the million dollar question? Knowing that would help us to be able to plan this for you. I wonder if David Allan who works there and is a CC member could find out for us.
I just emailed him and let's see if there is a way to find out..... I see he is on line right now so let's see.:)

I hope so. It would be so much better waving from the balcony (if we are on the right dock) because there is a glass wind screen on the top deck that makes it difficult to decide exactly where to stand to be seen.

When there are two ships here the same day, they normally put the one that is terminating here, and passengers will be picking up luggage ,going through customs and immigration on the side where OSDM has been docking every Saturday. That is because that side has the complete terminal facilities. Sean on Diamond will, in all probability, be docked on the other side with the temporary tented facility. The thing that may screw this up is that Infinity has run into rough seas and may be docking as late as 1pm - that is the latest on her arrival as of 5pm Friday, San Diego time. Sean, for bicycling in Coronado, you know you can take a ferry from close to the cruise pier over to the ferry terminal in Coronado - I do not know the Sunday schedule , however:) :)

That's right.......the Infinity is boarding that day so they probably get the good dock.
The bike trip is a ship shore excursion and the ferry is included.:)
Guess I will do the wave from the Sun deck.:)

Hey Lisa !
I am watching the San Diego cam and the Ryndam is where the Diamond Princess might be. Judging by that I should be able to be seen from my balcony.:)
Our balcony is half covered (the ones below us are completely exposed).
I should be able to stand by the rail and be seen. It's basically the same way you can see the Ryndam's lifeboats today. They stick out beyond the hull just as my balcony does.
I think I will plan on that because the Sun deck ( or any other deck up front) really doesn't have good sightlines from the camera.
Check it out before the Ryndam sails.:)

Hi Sean, I got an email from David today and he has confirmed that the Diamond Princess is scheduled to be on the North side so we should definitely be able to see you. So that will be 2 weeks from today :) When I call you we can then also figured out exactly where you cabin is since I do not know the Diamond Princess. Remember the Diamond Princess is a lot bigger than the Ryndam and she actually pulls in a lot closer. I think it will be very easy to catch you on the web cam.

Cool! Tell David thanks!
As you said we can figure exactly where my cabin is when the day comes.
But as just a little indication now.....when you look along the side of the ship, you will see a white patch amoung the balconies that runs up and down 3 decks. That is where there is no glass because the handicap cabins are twice the width of other cabins, but still only have one set of sliding glass doors like other cabins. we would be the lowest "white patch":)
This should be fun trying to get the best angle.:)
