View Full Version : Final SD Web Wave from SD with a revised time

Yes, there will be a final Banner Wave to the San Diego web cam today before the Oosterdam heads north to Victoria. The Oosterdam's Sail Away will be at 4 PM today instead of 5 and their Life Boat Drill will be at 3:15 so we have revised the time of the Banner Wave to 2:30 for one last time till October. Today's wavers may only be one couple although there may also be another couple but Lyn aka Bellalu and her husband will be doing the wave so that we do not drop tradition. The Oosterdam will be heading to Victoria to replace the broken Azipod.
I am off work today and hopefully will return home in time. I am having lunch with this Cop friend of my from Torrence California;) and his wife.
I have Lyn's mobile number and will be calling her to get the wave perfect. Sounds like they will have a nice 3 days on the Oosterdam with only about a 1000 passengers boarding for the trip to Victoria. We can just hope that the seas will not be as rough as Jim Hannah's trip up north last year.

We had to rush thru the wave a bit so everyone could get back to their cabin. They will be having life boat drill at 3:15 today.
It was nice that we still could have a Banner Wave for the last Saturday in San Diego till Ocotober. I am going to miss being the Wave Coordinator on Saturday afternoons:(

Lisa, I am surprised that you have not contacted Seattle about an Oosterdam web cam!
I sure have enjoyed watching the sail aways on Saturday with you. Thank you so much!
When we were onboard March 10 - 17, I had a vice nice chat with James Deering. He sure is a great guy! He mentioned you!
Take care, lets work on a Seattle Oosterdam cam!!

Teri, actually I had thought about contacting Starbucks to put one in from their clock tower but it is my understanding that next year HAL will not be using pier 30 where they are located now but a new one. So at this time I think it is best to wait and see what the location will be next year. Then maybe next year we can work on getting a Seattle Web Cam.
BTW I totally agree that Mr. Deering is a Great Guy:)

OK, second pathetic person here. I watched the wave, life boat drill and sail away. Also watched the Oosterdam sail out of the bay and make the wide turn from South to North in front of Coronado Island and finally sail out of sight to the North. Really wanted to be on this cruise but just couldn't make it happen. She's heading my way.....:D

 I should have known that you would know the scoop about Seattle!
Do you know about where they would build the new pier?
How exciting! They could use a third one.
That might just create some more fun options / cruises for us in the PNW.
We are taking a 4 day PNW girlfriend cruise in October and Celebrity was the only line that could accommodate us RT Seattle.
I was disappointed, I was hoping to hop on your Oosterdam, but no RT short cruises were offered this year on any HAL sailing. Only open jaw offered.
Keep me posted on the Seattle news!!
Take care,
Teri :D

OH, one more thing. Lisa, Thank you for a great WAVE season. I have also looked forward to this fun tradition every Saturday. I will miss it as well. I will have to watch a few sail aways from Seattle this year. There is this great restuarant on the waterfront called, well, The Waterfront and it really is a fun spot for drinks around 4pm during the cruise season to watch all the ships cruise out for a week in Alaska. I'll keep a close eye on your beloved Oosterdam for you. Thanks again for all the fun. Wendy

We are looking forward to returning to Seattle this year we will get in on Saturday so we will be able to see my Oosterdam but will sail out the following day on the Noordam. Thanks so much for keeping an eye on her this summer for me;) I will look forward to October when we can start the Mexican Riviera season all over again.
