We are booked on the Westerdam in a cat. F oceanview. Their brochure shows it has a fridge, but when I booked through them, the agent said it did not have one. Has anyone sailed recently who can confirm if it does or not?

Has anyone sailed recently who can confirm if it does or not?All cabins on all Vistas have refigerators. I hope that wasn't a HAL agent that misinformed you.
Just a warning though: it will only cool to about 25 degrees below ambient room temperature.

It was a HAL agent. My son is diabetic and we need it for insulin. I wonder if they want us to keep it in a separate one from the mini-bar. We went to a camp once that did not allow it in with the food, so we had to keep it in a cooler. Maybe that was her thought. Thanks!

If not, I think I read someplace on this board that the infirmary will let you store your supply there, and daily "load" a few syringes to be stored in a water-tight bottle in your ice bucket.
The only things ordinarily in the mini-bar are sealed drinks, and I doubt that they would care if you stored insulin there. My daughter keeps insulin for her diabetic cat in her refrigerator with food. I wonder why the camp would not allow it? Maybe it was a case of not wanting the responsibility of someone taking it or tampering with it, rather than a "contamination" issue.

And if you needed/wanted to, you could ask your steward to empty the fridge/mini-bar.

Because in some places (other ships/hotels; I haven't been on HAL yet), the removal of an item triggers an electronic signal to charge your account! It is also a courtesy to the steward to let him/her know not to replace the items and can prevent a lot of condensation from spreading over the desk/shelf, perhaps ruining whatever else is on there. Since I don't use the ice/water/pitcher often found in the fridge/mini-bar, I ask that it be removed so it doesn't have to be refilled everyday and/or take up room I want for the wine!!
Happy Cruising

Because in some places (other ships/hotels; I haven't been on HAL yet), the removal of an item triggers an electronic signal to charge your account! Hunh! I've never heard of that! HAL definitely is not that advanced! Heck, HAL doesn't even have inter-active TVs so that you can check your account!
So if I were in one of these places that have such a high-tech fridge, I would even have to be careful when rearranging or moving or looking at items not to take them past the door or I would be charged? I don't like that idea very much!

Because that way you have to look at it all week, and you lose all the space on the desk. On the Noordam last week we asked our steward to empty the mini bar, and he placed all the stuff into one of the storage things in one of the chairs. (It looks like a footrest, the top comes off and you can put stuff into it)
If we did that ourselves, we might have gotten charged for everything in there. It's just to be safe.
