View Full Version : Does anyone know where the Noordam will Dock in Juneau?

I was wondering where the Noordam will dock when she goes to Juneau? It is my guess that she will dock in the newer area that is NOT in the downtown area. I believe that the Oosterdam still docks here as well. In May 2004 our cruise was the first ship to ever dock at the new pier but it is definitely not close to everything. At that time HAL offered busses to shuttle us into town. I beleive that this year the Noordam is doing the same itinerary that the Westerdam did last year so maybe someone who was on the Westerdam last year to Alaska could answer this question for me. Thanks:)

Lisa, for our cruise, the Noordam is scheduled to dock at the Cruiseship Terminal in Juneau on Wednesday, June 20th. I go here to look up all the info (http://www.claalaska.com/schedules.html).

Hi Lisa,
I have the daily program fro Juneau right in front of me. Westerdam docked at the Port of Juneau Town Center. Franklin Street area across from the tramway to Mt. Roberts.

Yes, CT means Cruiseship Terminal. Scroll down the front page of the link I gave you; it lists all the various codes.

GN, that is great news. I really am guessing they will do exactly the same as the Westerdam did. That is also where we docked on the Ryndam last year and the location was great.

Thanks Karin, sometimes being blonde has a disadvantage:D I am thrilled now, that is a great location. I just feel really bad for those on the Oosterdam because it really is not close. If it is good weather it is not a bad walk but it is so seldom good weather. We made the mistake last year of walking back to the ship in Skagway from town. Those ships looked so close and despite the fact it was the first week in May and it was raining and snowing and 30 MPH winds we still walked it:eek: Luckily Tom was not mad, I wanted to be able to walk by the rock wall by the ships and see all the painted ship logos and dates.

The Cruiseship Terminal is on S. Franklin St as GN indicated.

Just saw your post, Lisa. Our weather should be a little better in June :-) Our location in Juneau is excellent!

Make SURE you are looking at the same place!! Noordam docks the entire summer at CT, which is the Cruiseship Terminal, but there is ALSO an FKL which is the S Franklin St Pier....these are TWO DIFFERENT PLACES!! The Diamond Princess will be at FKL when Noordam is at CT....Just clearing it up for all us blonds out there;)

Yes, dear, you are right; I don't want to lead anyone astray:eek: . The Cruise Ship Terminal is north of the South Franklin Street Dock, but they both face S. Franklin Street. The Cruise Ship Terminal is right near the Mt. Roberts Tram. I am partly grey; does that count as blonde?

Here is a map (http://www.traveljuneau.com/discover/maps/downtown/images/maps/juneau-big.gif). Wait for that funny-looking "expand to regular size" icon to appear in the lower rh corner, then click on it to get a better view.

In my opinion the Noordam's location is ideal:) It is with in walking distance of all the shops.

Thanks Everyone for leading me in the right direct and giving me good news:D

If they do like they did the first year (2004)the Oosterdam was docked at the farthest pier then they will offer shuttle busses.
