:) Hi...have any of ya'll been on the Kon Tiki Party Cruise in St. Thomas before?
Just wondered if it was like "The Fiesta Party Boat" in Cozumel?
Can anyone help me with this one? I know I could go to the Ports board but seems like the cruise board is always much more forthcoming with information.
Thanks:)

I was never on it, but I have watched people get off of it. You could hear it coming for about 10 minutes. (Loud music - shouting) We were on the ship and on our balcony watching. MANY people had to be "walked" onto the the ship by friends because they obviously had more than few too many ;)

We went on this excursion a few years back. I think we were on an NCL cruise June 2000. Anyway, it's a big old, what I call, a barge. They took us to a "private" beach where we swam for a little while. The beach was very small and not all that great. We got free rum drinks. Once back onboard, they did the usual limbo dances and drinking games. If you are into that stuff, then you will have a great time. For us (in our late 30's at the time), been there, done that.

We did this excursion on Christmas Eve in 1998. It was just as described by the previous poster....except....that we had a great time. We went to Honeymoon beach on St. Johns....not a big beach...but clean and clear water. All the "boat people" had on Santa hats....we had a very amusing dance demonstration (on a raised platform) by several of the men on board (my husband included)....one guy was a bit longer than his swim trunks....and we (the womenfolk) just roared with laughter. He was dancin' and swayin' to the reggae music and it was just hilarious. He had a bit to drink, too. Nothing could be better for Christmas Eve......a great day in the Caribbean, swimming, sailing, rum punch, the warmth of the sun and a floor show!

Lois, I don't think you can book this early for excursions, its something like 30 or 60 days prior to your sailing date. Someone else may have more information on this, I forgot.

We have done this tour many, many times and always enjoy ourselves. It is one way for me to get some ocean swimming in The first time we did it was in 1982 and have been back almost every time we are in St. Thomas. It goes to Honeymoon beach on Water island, not St John. The same Capt. has been on the Kon Tiki for about 20 years. You`ll enjoy it....jean

Did the Kon Tiki trip back in 1986 and it was a blast.
I remember the beach we stopped at was nothing special but everyone had a great time anyway. I guess the rum punch didn't hurt *LOL*
Yea I guess we were some of those people the previous poster heard 10 minutes before we actually docked *LOL*
But it was a good time, and as I remember there were all ages aboard having fun.

:) Thanks for all the replies.....Jean, I booked it today on-line....and one tour in Tortola...now that I have those taken care of I am happy:D .
I don't think I will book anything for Half-Moon Cay....I am guessing I can find a lounge chair near the water...bring a book and get a drink and have some food there and relax:).
And Nassau...I may take the Ferry to Atlantis...or just stay on the ship:D

Lois-
This is party, party, party time! Last time (1999) the gals all went to the top of the barge and took off their tops!
Waved the their bikini tops all the way round the harbour! Great fun, and DH loved it!
Haven't done it since - we usually have the kids with us now. :)

everyone was having a great time - I doubt if anyone would run! It kinda became the thing to do - the rum punches sure didn't help any
