We have an opportunity to book an SS guarantee on the Noordam and am wondering about being under the Lido Deck. Are the noises that loud from above? How about when they clean the decks? any overflow of water? We just stayed in a VA cabin on Rotterdam deck and liked that location, but want a larger room

Yes, you can occassionally hear chairs from the midship Lido Deck pool area if you're in the forward SS's - but the Aft SS's below the Lido Restaurant don't have that issue.
And if you look at photos & deckplans of the ship, you'll see that the Lido Deck overhangs the midship area by 5-6 feet - so there's no issue w/ water from above. (Unless the ship is upside-down....)

The cabin is wonderful but location is key. On the Oosterdam in March we were under the Lido pool area and every morning I would wake up very early to things being more or just click, click of shoes or running little feet. Not fun. Loved the cabin but would never book under this area again. If you get up early (like 7am) it may not bother you. Did not notice much at night but we did stay out late so who knows. Wendy

I am taking on the cruise the one thing that makes me sleep like a baby next to a snoring train.....EAR PLUGS!!:D Even if there is some noise above our cabin (or in it!) I shouldn't hear it with those.

We had SS cabin 8038, the most forward SS cabin on the port side-where the ping pong tables are. During our 16-day Noordam cruise, I heard noises from above only on one morning, and they were very subdued. Not much further aft from there, I think the chance of hearing noise from chairs and tables being moved about will be increased but the SS cabins are still VERY nice and comfortable.

OMG is it noisy!!! I had cabin 8112 on the Oosterdam two weeks ago and I was rudely awoken by gorillas on the deck above me. It was only 5:30 am. It sounded like they were throwing the deck chairs and then dragging them. After complaining, they waited until 6 the next morning. After complaining one more time, they waited until 7 the next few days and it sounded like they were actually placing them down instead of throwing them. If you like to sleep later than 5:30 - 7:00 am, DO NOT GET A CABIN IN THE BACK! I slept for days after this cruise.

The OP was asking about an SS - 8112 is not an SS

We had an SS on the Westerdam - under the Lido Buffet - and there was no noise from above at all. When booking, always look at what is on the deck above you (and below you). Beware of deck chairs and lounges where music may be played late at night - just MHO;).

Bepsf, I realize that my cabin was not an SS. The poster wanted to know about noises in the back of the ship. I WAS on the 8th floor and WAS right below the area the poster was asking about. That's why I chimed in. Sorry I offended you.

DO NOT GET A CABIN IN THE BACK!
There ARE no SS cabins in the back! They are ALL mid-ship between the two humps. The OP was asking about SS under the Lido Deck, not just the Lido Pool area.
