We sailed on the Ryndam April 12-22 to the Mexican Riviera and Sea of Cortez. I have posted a VERY long review in the Reviews section.
This was our first HAL cruise and I want to thank everyone on this board from all the help and information. We loved the Ryndam and will surely sail HAL again.
If anyone wants information re this itinerary, or the Ryndam, I would be happy to help.
We are sailing to the Baltics on Celebrity's Century in July and I will be spending much time on that board. We have never sailed Celebrity before either but do hear that if we liked HAL, we will like Celebrity.
Thanks again.

We were on the 12-22 cruise also and I think you have summed it up in your review very well. Checking in at San Diego Cruise Terminal was as bad as ever. This was our third cruise out of there and it has never improved. I place the the fault 50% with the cruise line and 50% with the SD Port Authorities. We only had one day of work in the passageway which followed with a toilet problem and loss of electricity to the desk/TV area, both of which were promptly fixed. It was only a small hassel for the better part of one day. I was disapointed in what they have done to the Crows Nest. On the Zaandam a couple of years ago we had a 270 degree view from most any seat. Very spectacular. Not so on the Ryndam. In making room for separate private functions and bingo - with tracks on the overhead and curtains and large seating arrangements facing inward instead of outward the ambiance is greatly diminished. It still is a delightful place to gather and no doubt you saw our group of six every evening from 6:30 to 7:45 having our before dinner martini(s). It was a good trip.

Very nice review, Ellen. Focused and balanced. I'm always interested in ms Ryndam, and appreciate the efforts you put into doing that review.

Yes, I think that I remember your group. Were you on the starboard side of the Crows Nest during the beautiful 2 hours sailaway from Loreto when we saw a pod(?) of dolphins? If so, I joined you for a few minutes during the 'big excitement'. Glad to hear that you also enjoyed our cruise.
It bothers me when I read on this board about the Crows Nest being off limits for entire cruises. This area definitely added to our enjoyment.
