View Full Version : Aft VA and BV Staterooms on Noordam

In looking at several different cruises on the Noordam (trying to decide when we want to go) I notice there are many of these aft veranda staterooms available. On NCL (particularly on the Dawn) the aft BA's (equivalent for the most part) are coveted and the first ones to book -- we've never been lucky enough to snag one of these rooms.
So my question is, why does it appear that these veranda staterooms on the Noordam are not in high demand? Has anyone here on the boards had one of these staterooms? Is there a lot of vibration from the aft of this ship?
I'd love to hear comments and complaints (since I'm guessing there will be, as they're not booking) about these staterooms.
We are THIS close to booking, so I'd appreciate hearing pros and cons! Thanks so much for all your comments and answers to the zillion questions I've asked so far!;)

On what site can you see that these aft staterooms are available? I'd like to be able to see that too. From what I've read on these boards, people covet these cabins.

In March we occupied Noordam's 8141 which is aft, center, on the Navigation deck. We loved this location. Directly above us was the Lido deck, but above our stateroom was stationary equipment, not movable furniture, so there was no noise from that source. The view from the verandah was great and we ate breakfast out there every morning that we were in warm weather. It was easy to drag the room table out there and it holds the room service tray nicely. There is some "rocking" when the water is rough but we love that; no complaints at all. I have no hesitation in recommending this cabin. We plan to ask for this assignment again the next time we cruise on the Noordam.

We'll try one of the aft VA cabins on the navigation deck in a couple of weeks. Our TA said all of her clients who have been in the aft VAs really liked them. I'm pretty excited about it.

I've seen them available through on-line TA's. Most are on deck 4 or 5.
Spinner2: thanks so much for the info -- you said exactly what I thought I would hear! Do you think the veranda is deeper because of the cabin location? The balconies are deeper on the aft BAs on the Dawn, but the cabin size, I believe, is the same as any other BA.
To all: what do you think of the location of the cabins I'm finding available (deck 4 and 5)??

For my money, the VA aft cabins and SA and SB suites are the best on the Vistas (and most other ships). Yes, the balconies are deeper, though I am told not quite as deep as on the other Vistas.
We are in a corner aft suite in 3 weeks and chose it above a higher priced mid ship category as we love this location, the views and the privacy.
Since the VAs in this area only hold two, the chances of being next to a family with kids are nil and this IMO is what keeps the location so quiet.

We had an aft last year on Celebrity and are now hooked for life. we have an aft booked on the Noordam. The only real complaint I have read is that it tends to be a long walk to somne of the public areas of the ship. good for me as I can use the exercise.:D Unfortunately I think we will be fairly close to the food areas !

I'd love to hear your comparison between the Celebrity (Millenium class?) and the Noordam aft cabins.
We've done it on Celebrity Millenium Class ships several times and would appreciate the comparison.

Welove2cruise2, we thought the verandah was deep enough for our needs; can't really compare because the HAL verandah cabins we've had before weren't on this class of ship and this is also our first aft-cabin. I can tell you that when we sat in the chairs and put our feet up on our respective ottomans we were nowhere close to touching either the cabin window or the aft railing. And generally the sun wasn't in our eyes because there was enough overhang from the Lido deck above to shade us a bit. We have photos; they're on DH's computer; I'll get him to shoot a couple over to me so I can post them for you.
