"Only the pre-set* Discovery or Explorer Collection tour packages can be pre purchased and must be booked through your travel agent. These packages will not be available for purchase on board."

The above quote is from the Oceania web site. Where do you find these packages? Their web site seems to only list individual shore excursions. On other lines, I've always been able to book individual shore excursions before sailing.

The packages are shown only for cruises leaving from now until about October or November. If they are currently available for your cruise, the Purchase Excursion Package button is quite obvious on the itinerary page for the cruise and also under the excursions tab. It appears that there is a shopping cart system on the Oceania site for purchasing these packages.

My cruise leaves 12/17.

You're traveling one cruise before me in South America. Packages for our cruises aren't listed yet just--as you noted--the individual shore excursions. I'm guessing that some more shore excursions may be added because the brochure refers to some places that aren't covered by the listed excursions.

We are also booked on the 12/17 cruise. The Oceania organized tours may consist of large groups of people. Portcompass.com has some alternatives that sound interesting (particularly at Punta Arenas and at Puerto Madryn). If you (or anyone else booked on this sailing) is interested in alternative excursions, please let me know.
