spring break for NYC schools is April 21-25, 2008. Looks like Noordam will escape the madness this year.;)

Not so fast :) About half the NJ schools will be on spring break over Easter, in March. I am not sure if Long Island and Ct. schedules have been released yet.

Many schools in PA have their spring break at Easter as well - 2008 - March.

Spring Break on Long Island is March-some schools are the week before Easter, some the week after. And the kids are off for 11 days total !

We are sailing on the Noordam 3/8/08. I'm pretty sure we will miss most of the children. Not that I don't like kids, I have 4 & 4 grandchildren. I just don't like to be over run with them. We considered RCCL for later in the month, but quickly changed when we realized it was over Easter Break.

Some school systems, and even entire states, have 'Spring' break in February and then also an Easter break. Though those Easter breaks may just be a long weekend, parents do take kids out of school for several more days if cruising at that time fits the family schedule.
We find the entire mid-February through late March (and into April if Easter is late) is very chancy to book if you'd rather limit the number of children, esp. on 7 day cruises.

Trust me, as a teacher, parents pull their kids out for vacations whenever it fits their family plans. So if the dates of a cruise don't match up exactly with school vacations...oh, well.
That time of the year, cruises will have a higher kid count, in all probablity.

I just came off the New York Spring Break HAL disaster cruise and if you do not like kids I would seriously suggest that you do your research as far as spring break in areas as far as Boston, NJ, PA, CT. We took the ship and we brought our 11 Year old who has been on 8 cruises. This was by far the worst ever... 500 misbehaved, bored kids and annoyed old people...It was unpleasant for all. I will never take HAL again at a holiday time out of New York again after this. They relaxed their dress code, service was horrible, boat vandalism and everything else under the sun...Most of the older people were shocked with the amount of kids on board and walked around complaining as if they owned the ship..It was just a really bad time for all. HAL blamed the lack of parenting for the kids, but I can honestly tell you that it was not only this. Their kids club is severly lacking and their security is almost non existent until the problems are out of control...so save your money and don't book HAL at spring break or near it unless you want kids...they will be on it and they will not handle them well. Better off waiting a week or two if you do not want families

It doesn't sound very pleasant--for anyone-- except,of course, for those parents who were out by the pool or in the casino enjoying themselves as their kids "entertained" themselves...and remained obvlious. Sorry you had to experience that.
Since HAL is now cutting rates for kids to change it's demographics, more of this type of thing will happen again.
