For at least 7 years have used an excellent driver to pick us up in London --
super dependable and enjoyable. Can be reached for a price quote at
Yrmanldn@aol.com -- name is John Elliott-Nabarro. Meets arriving pass. immediately outside of customs and keeps track of arrival time of planes. We were delayed at least 3 hours once because of Atlanta rain storms and he was right there as we arrived. He will give a quote by E-mail and does not require a deposit. Prefers payment in cash -- dollars or pounds. He has taken us to both London hotels and also to Southampton and Harwich. Has a lovely clean mini-van that will carry 4 passengers and luggage.

Thank you Cruisin Illini for the information. Do appreciate this. Our TA is also checking into this. We are thinking the June 2005 Norwegian Fjords from NY to Copenhagen.:)

Here is another service to use for price comparison. We used them last year from London to Heathrow.

On our cruise last fall several passengers took the train and said it was no problem..........you can take it from the airport. We used the cruise transport and it took forever! They gathered us at a hotel and then sent us by bus. The traffice was bad so it made for a long trip.

I notice that the "similar threads" links at the bottom of this page throw up a number of threads on which this question has been asked. If you were to go to the Britain, Baltic and Europe forums and search there, you're likely to find some more too.

The most economical transportation is a motor coach(bus) from Victoria Coach station in central London to Dover, about a 3 hour drive with 1 or 2 stops if I remember correctly. From where it is very short cab ride to the ship. The motor coach is less than half the price of the train and a fraction of what a private service will charge you. This worked great for the two of us since we were trying a save a little money for spending in the ports of call.
