I just read that DCL discourages folks from ordering room service for food to be taken off-ship on excursions. Furthermore, it may even be illegal to remove certain foods from the ship at particular ports.

We had planned to do just that in Nassau. That is, order some sandwiches and snacks to take with us to Atlantis.

Comments anyone?

The choice is yours. But they do discourage it due to health factors. Fruits are really forbidden!!
I know people who took sandwiches with them. ate them at the beach with no problems.
They do not inspect you going off the ship. But if you have any leftovers dump them!!! Once off the ship you can not bring it back on board. They will scan your stuff and you will be in trouble if you try to bring anything back on, even if you took it from the ship originally.

so some do this, some dont?? It is your decision.

We've only ever taken small snack foods. Mostly boxed cereal for my daughter. If the sandwiches have meat on them then that isn't something I would eat if it isn't kept cold...

We do try to remember to take an orange if we go to the beach. It immediately cuts out any yucky taste should you get salt water in your mouth.

True statement about the meat. I was hoping to get some peanut butter/jelly sandwichs.
