How are the beds configured? I can't tell from the description.

There should be one bed or upper berth, that comes from the ceiling above and perpendicular to the main bed. Be careful not to bang your head the first time you wake up underneath it. The other bed should be a pullout from the sofa which is generally infront of the verandah door.
