My hubby and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary in January 2005. I'd like to surprise him with a cruise sometime that month or maybe even February, so wondered which destination we should choose? Would appreciate hearing people's favorites. I expect our choices are limited to Mexico and Carribbean? Thanks!

Don't forget to order your Anniversary Cake on whatever ship you book. :D

wilsonzoo - don't pay any attention to them ;) That's an inside joke.

How about Hawaii? That would be a real treat for your 15th Anniversary, although it is 15 days and is more expensive than Mexico or the Caribbean.

We did the Western Carib for our 35th many years ago.! :D

Favourite ships are the Volendam and Rotterdam. Go for a balcony if you can - either a Suite or a Mini-Suite.

Whichever you choose I am sure you will enjoy it.

Wilsonzoo - The Rotterdam is sailing the Panama Canal - 10 days, leaving
from Ft Lauderdale, beginning of Jan - the end of February. The Oosterdam, 13 day Panama Canel, Jan 9. Noticed there were a few South Pacific ones, and an Australia cruise....the Australia ones may be a bit long. Hope this helps.

Also, if you decide to go to the Caribbean, the Zuiderdam has been showing some wonderful S rates for this year...not sure about next.

Let us know what you decide.

If you're from Spokane, you may find the Caribbean to be rather humid. It's muggier than I prefer. The Mexican Riviera offers a somewhat drier climate, several sea days on the blue Pacific (with whale watching if you're lucky), fine scenery, and shore excursions to the haunts of movie stars in Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta. Not to mention Mexican food and margaritas! The departure port of San Diego should be an easy flight from Spokane, and is a terrific vacation destination in itself, with lots to do. The ship docks right downtown, with harbor excursions, seafood restaurants, a beautiful old square-rigger (the Star of India) and shopping an easy walk away.

How long a cruise are you able to take?

If you are only able to do 7 days, then a Caribbean cruise.

If you are able to do a 10 day cruise, you might want to consider a 10 day cruise.

Lots of choices here.

On husbands last birthday in May on the Maasdam we chose to go to the Pinnacle Grill and skip the dining room. Did he miss the traditional birthday cake - NO. He loved the chocolate volcano cake which we have had many times. Our waiter, his assistant, area captain, and matre'd still came from the main dining room to wish him a happy birthday.

W are also celebrating an anniversary (20 years in December) We are traveling with another couple and settled on Oosterdam leaving Ft Lauderdale Jan 2 for the Eastern Carib.
Have done the same itinerary many times but the price couldnt be beat.
We got Aft S suites for $2677.00 per couple on Bestpricecruises.com. Icruise.com offers the same price.
There are a number of Cat S suites left at the same price.
We are heading to FLL on New Years Eve day and rining in the New Year at the Marriott Marina. The hotels kind of expensive but the cost of the cruise more then makes up for it.

Day one Nassau
Day two At Sea
Day three St Martin
Day four Tortola
Day five At Sea
Day 6 Half Moon Cay

We are doing the same thing in January and are going on a 4 night on the Zuiderdam. Its too hard to go longer since we have 2 small children. It leaves January 29th to Feb 2nd and visits Key West, Nassau and Half Moon Cay. Prices are really reasonable. We paid $522pp total for cat VA. Found cheap airfare and won a pre-night stay at Sheraton Airport for $50 through Priceline.

steelcity - good for you.

Hope the weather up here is good for flying the end of January.

We will be flying home from Ft Lauderdale just about the time you are flying down.
