Good morning.
We are going 6/6 to Med on DW and will be taking the Panoramic Tour of La Maddalena shore excursion.

Good question... We were on first Disney Med cruise and had hoped to see the Emerald Coast. But we are "do it yourselfers" and that did not work very well. Olbia is a cute town with upscale shopping but limited transportation. There is bus service to the beach areas, but it runs about every 2 hours. We ended up taking a local taxi to a small beach just north of Olbia, not particularly memorable. fare was 20-25 euros each way and we were glad that we arranged with the taxi driver to come back for us.
I am used to the Caribbean were there are always many tour choices once you get to port. This did not seem to be true at most of the Med ports.
It is possible that there will be more options there during high season.
I would suggest that you look into the ship excursions (ouch!) or plan on a relaxing day on the ship with a couple of hours exploring the town (easy shuttle/walk from ship.)

The Magic is the only cruise ship that calls at Olbia (see cruisecal.com). The town is small, but was glad to see us (we were on the 5/26 cruise). We walked around Olbia in the morning and did the half-day tour of the Madellena islands in the afternoon (the downside was that most of the stores were closed while we had free time since they close from 1 to 3 in the afternoon).
The Madellena tour is a lot of bus riding, so while the country is beautiful, it may be difficult with kids. If I had to do it again, I would go into town for a couple of hours, have a cappucino at one of cafes, and rest up for the busier ports.

We did this on the 5/26 cruise and it was georgeous. I have never seen water like that anywhere. We went in the morning.

We just got back from Med. Cruise and did the Panoramic Tour of La Maddalena. Our tour guide, Robert, was fantastic! Yes on bus quite some time, but stopped several times for photo opportunity. Kids (10yr old and 6 yr old) enjoyed ferry ride to La Maddalena. - Beautiful island!
