I'm a fairly light sleeper and not a night owl. Do you think we might regret it if we book a cabin above the casino on the Volendam for a 2 week cruise in Australia/New Zealand? We want something as close to midship as possible and not too close to the launderette or elevators/stairs. Thanks for any feedback.

It's all subjective, but since I'm a light sleeper, too, I've learned that the best choice is a cabin with no "white space" on the deck plan anywhere near my cabin--that means above/below, left/right, and behind the cabin/across the passageway. You will get many responses that this is nonsense--but 14 nights is a long time with poor sleep, IMO. That happened to me on the Constellation--a conveyor belt in the space behind my cabin that started every morning at 5:30am! On Zuiderdam, there was a service door across from my cabin that the stewards used to bring out the room service carts--clattered as they went over the threshhold--and seemed everyone on that deck ordered early room-service breakfast.
So, if you have the choice, why risk it??
