Ok, folks, I need some assistance and I KNOW you guys can help. We need to book a Vancouver hotel room for the night before we sail. :)
I really don't want to spend $300+ that the Westin and Fairmont are asking. Can anyone recommend a hotel in Vancouver?
Thanks...

Peggy: you might want to consider the Hampton Inn. A few months ago, it was the favorite Vancouver hotel on Trip Advisor dot com. They have a free shuttle to Canada Place. We booked a room there for our May cruise and it was around $185 cdn/night IIRC and breakfast is included. We wound up staying at the Pan Pacific, however, because the PP had a special deal for the same rate. Hope this helps!

We stayed in the Sheraton Wall Center in May for CAN$199/night, booked directly through the hotel website (at an internet-only rate). The hotel is very well located and appointed with the usual mega-comfortable Sheraton beds :D

I stayed in the Comfort Inn downtown and it was fine. It is not a big room but it was clean and the front desk people were great. I would stay there again and I am picky.

I don't pay full price anymore for hotels. Priceline can usually get you a 3 star for about $50-75 and a 4 star for $80-140 per night.

For a real treat try the Wedgewood. It was rated, one year, as the best hotel in Canada. Since it is a smaller hotel not that many people have stayed there but those who have will highly recommend it. Treat yourself, your on vacation.

The Sheraton Wall Centre is nice, and the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver can usually be had for far cheaper than the Fairmont Waterfront, despite the fact they're roughly four blocks apart.

Other good ones: The Westin Grand is beautiful, and the Hyatt isn't bad either.

A bit farther towards the edges of downtown: The Best Western Sands by the Sea is very nice and located right next to English Bay in the West End. The Granville Island hotel, located on Granville Island at the south end of downtown, is very nice as well.

I agree with the poster who mentioned the Wedgewood - I just walked by it on my lunch. However, it's usually in the $350/night range...

Hi! We stayed at the Westin Bayshore and loved it. We actually used Priceline as well and it turned out wonderfully. The hotel was clean, quiet and close to lots of great things to see! It was a snap getting to the pier, a very short taxi ride.
Enjoy your cruise!

We recently stayed at the Best Western Downtown in Vancouver. We got a very good rate and had free shuttle service to the ships. The hotel is fairly new, nice and clean. However, it is located in a really seedy area. My 13 year old son got quite an education as we walked about the night before our cruise. To do over, I'd pay more and get a better location.
