Hey guys we should do a CC meet up at Portside to farewell the Pacific Star on 15 August. My desk calander tells me that's the Ekka public holiday :D She sails at 2pm if anyone's interested? Maybe we can all meet for a quick drinkie first then head up to the viewing deck to wave goodbye?

Another Brisbane-ite here.
Ekka party at Portside sounds like a plan, except it's a friends son's 2nd birthday the next day, so we might have another sort of party to go to on the public holiday.

Where is that?? I've heard of it, but have no idea where it is... So it must be on the southside?? :) (We're on the northside).
(For those not from Brisbane - there's s bit of Northside/Southside divide happening. The river divides more than just the city - it divides everything!)

www.whereis.com (http://www.whereis.com). Ransome is south of the river and east - Bayside near Gumdale and Thorneside (so I can keep a check on the Pacific Star/Sun :) )
For those in Sydney, north/south is a good natured rivalry up here; not as serious as down your way.

Hi there, another Brisbanite here. Long time lurker, no time poster.
My situation is a little strange. I haven't actually been on any cruises, though one day after I graduate from uni and work full time (with some moolah) would like to go on one (hopefully more than one lol).
I love these forums- I am totally fascinated by the different ships, journeys, jokes and destinations on offer.
It rather does become an addiction, doesn't it?!
Closest thing to the real deal, virtual cruise world... you know?!:o;)

If you want to get closer to a ship, why don't you come down to the Portside Cruise Terminal on the Ekka holiday and catch up with a few other CC'ers for drinkies while we watch the Pacific Star sail off?

It would be wonderful to meet everyone! Including the CCers on the ship that day, and the ones just (jealously) waving goodbye :D Maybe we can all wear something that stands out like leis or something? I'm sure we've all got 1 or 2 stashed away in a cupboard somewhere from previous cruises :D I've got one hanging from just about every door handle in my place LOL!! :p And of course we'll recognise the actual cruisers from their cruise cards and lanyards ;)

Lovely place Toowoomba, as close as you'll get to Melbourne in Queensland (weather wise at least). I lived up there for nearly 3 1/2 years

From Warrimoo St. P&O can be identified quite clearly - blue funnel!
But the best time we had shipgazing was from a unit in Buddina (Esplanade) where we could see the pilots getting on and off the ships from the pilot boats.

You're right ... it's fairly cold these last few days! -16.5 or something like that (with the wind chill) recorded out at the Uni yesterday - coldest day in history .... no wonder we go cruising!!!!
It's more like Melbourne than a lot of people realise ... the town planning was done by the same person who designed Melbourne!

I don't know, I quite enjoyed the cold winter nights up there. Reminded me of Melbourne.
Although it did say in the paper that with the wind chill factor it got down to minus 8 or 9 in Toowoomba yesterday morning... Now that is extreme.

Actually, as LouLou said above, with the wind chill factored in, it was -16.5°C.
The coldest day in Toowoomba's recorded history. :( :)

Hi ACDC,
I grew up in Wilpie St (just behind Warrimoo St) I agree great view of the bay from that area. Unfortunatelly can't see the sea from Petrie!!:( But looking forward to the cruise in sept - great sea views from the ship I'm sure:D
