1) The food was like Celebrity "on steroids". The dining room food and the alternative restaurants cuisine was excellent and the portions were larger! :)
2) Felt like a non-smoking ship. Smokers had a small area near the pool and one area in Looking Glass lounge. Some tried to move up to upper deck 11 (they still had a few ash boxes from the old days), but were chastised by fellow passengers. Overheard a couple boasting they were ignoring the smoking policy and smoking in their cabin. Not sure how Azamara handled this? Majority of the smokers were considerate and seemed to be enjoying the cruise.
3) The ship felt spacious! No crowds, except in the serving area of the buffet.
4) The Crew was very pleasant and best we have experienced in 26 cruises.
5) We think the "CC causal" is a good way to go on this ship. Since it will be doing "port-intensive" cruises, this really cuts down on the amount of luggage. Don't get me wrong, we love to dress up and will continue to do so on Celebrity and HAL cruises.
6) The cabins are well designed. Great beds and beddings. Dark woods and many mirrors.
7) Open seating is not great, but we found a wonderful table the second night and were able to request it (with success) each night. Super waiter and asst-waiter. (Ask for Vernon and Leandros)
8) Captain seems really involved with the passengers.
9) The ship can dock in ports the larger ships can't. Makes for some interesting itineraries.
10) Having two alternative restuarants are wonderful. (I gained more weight than usual:eek: )
I might come back with a list of things I would change about the ship, and there are a few, but the positives really out-number that stuff.
Can't wait to get back on board the Journey or Quest sometime soon!
