Has anyone who is sailing on the 12/11/04 Caribbean cruise aboard the Maasdam (round trip from Norfolk) been able to book shore excursions on line? It seems to me to be rather late to be getting the message that no shore excursions have been arranged for that sailing yet.

:)
It's too early to book shore excursions for a December cruise. That is why the form is blank.
The form won't show anything until at least 60 days before the sailing date.

On April 6, 2004 we were able to book "Scenic Lynn Canal and Skagway's White Pass Summit Railway" on line. The Cruise starts August 25, 2004.

On the HAL site download the Shore Excursion brochure for the Caribbean and then look at the ones for the ports you will be traveling to. That will give you the excursions planned for a HAL cruise like yours. You just have to wait until 60 days before your cruise to actually order online, but you can make your plans and decisions now with the brochure.

Caribbean cruises are the ones that usually don't show up on the forms till 60 days before cruise date.
Yes, we have also been able to book excursions 90 - 100 days ahead - like for Alaska, South America, Panama Canal.

The Panama Canal excursions for this fall aren't available online yet (at least not for my sailing).
Every morning I check because there are a couple indicated as limited that I want to take.

We are doing the same thing for our October cruise - several are listed as being limited and we don't want to be disappointed.

We were able to book the shore excursion we wanted for San Juan, but couldn't book the one for Barbados. HAL e-mailed me to do it by phone.
Can't wait for December 12 when we shall be driving to Norfolk and checking in at the Radisson. We don't have a cabin number yet, so I can't let anyone know how to contact us on board. We always book "guaranteed inside" and usually wind up with an obstructed view cabin on Lower Promenade Deck. However, we can't be sure of that. We shall see.
We have been on many HAL cruises prior to this. Take a look at my signature.
If you want to see some photos of the Maasdam, go to:

Bon voyage, everybody.

Most tours have been loaded in the HAL website for December and January cruises. It's so easy to book on line.

Don't forget to print out your purchased shore excursions prior to 10 days before sailing. After that you can't gain access to it. Just an FYI.
The time will go by quickly Joan. I can't believe we will be on board in less than a week from today. I'm driving to Norfolk too but staying at the Holiday Inn Select (the bad reviews of the Radisson scared me off and others on my sailing). A 8 mile shuttle is worth the piece of mind.

Hi there!
We are going on the 11/20 sailing of the Maasdam and staying the night before at the Spring Hill Suites in Va Beach. Should we leave our car at the hotel and take a cab? Or would you recommend parking at Nauticus? It seems pricey at $10/day...Any suggestions also on you shore excursions? We are a family of 4 with two daughters 11&15
Thanks!:o

Thanks!:oWill they let you leave the car there without a charge? I assume you're referring to the Springhill Suites on Newtown Road. I don't know the hotel or the parking, but it's an industrial part of town. Not horrible, but I'd want to know what kind of security is available before leaving my car there for 10 days. If it's an open lot without security I don't know if I'd feel comfortable.

We have already booked our shore excursions for our Panama Canal cruise in December. We received an e-mail from HAL saying that they were available, long before the 60 days they say they usually make them available.
Not sure what their policy is!
