View Full Version : $50.00 per person shipboard credit

I'm sure many people know about this, but I'm just mentioning it for those who don't. HAL is still offering their $50.00 per person shipboard. It's promo 7031. Even if you're already booked have your TA call HAL. They should still honor it. I also believe that it's a larger credit for suites.
Let me know if this helps anyone.:)

I don't know about. What is the credit for? Who is eligible?

I got it for my 10 day eastern Caribbean in the fall. Calling about a 7 day eastern Caribbean in the spring they also said they can apply it. I haven't heard of anyone being turned down. So to the best of my knowledge it's for any cruise longer than 7 days. Give your TA a call and ask them to call HAL about it. Doesn't matter what it's for, they seem to be handing them out.:D

:) Promo 7031
Orcrone - suites get the same amount as the other cabins. It all depends on the length of the cruise. Usually HAL will give $75 for cruises of 8 - 13 days. And for cruises of 14 or more, it is $100 per person.
And from what I understand it is only for the Caribbean. A couple of people asked about the Panama Canal and were told "no".

I figured CC members might as well learn about them also.

For the first time, I booked our May 2005 Massdam cruise though an internet agency and not my travel agent. Do you know if I can call HAL directly and get the shipboard credit? Thank you.

steelcity - it never hurts to try - call and have your TA check it out.
Don't know if HAL will give you the shipboard credit since you are working through an internet agency. Do you have someone's name that you booked through? Are you able to get hold of that person? If so, e-mail them and have them check out the ship board credit.

I booked thru CVC and found out about 7031 on C@. Called CVC and was initially denied the credit after much runaround. I called HAL to try and get the credit through them, as I knew it was valid for my sailing. They told me promo 7032 had already been applied from CVC, and I got an email later from CVC telling me they applied the promo to my booking. I am not a Mariner so I don't know why they applied 7032. Maybe that will get me an upgrade, too! :D ;)

If you booked with a travel agent then HAL won't speak to you directly regarding your reservation. You'll have to go through your agent. But if you contact them with the promo numbers they should be able to get you the credit.

Just an update...I booked yesterday (7/21) through best price cruises (internet) and gave the TA both codes, 7031 and 7035. Don't know which she used but I got the 50pp credit in my confirmation today. I know 7035 is for AAA so I doubt she used that one. It's definitely worth a try. I too found out about the 7031 promo through the cruise addicts website and received the credit!! Thanks to them!! I do take a look at that website everyday but find it quite boring....there seems to be one person who is the "boss" and has a very curt way of responding to the questions of folks who have very little knowledge of cruising e.g. (SHIP NOT BOAT!!) etc. THIS site I have found is chock full of extremely friendly and helpful people who enjoy cruising and want others to have as much of an enjoyable experience as they have!! I want to take a moment and thank ALL of you for your help and knowledgable advice!! I am eagarly anticipating my upcoming cruise on the Zuiderdam (Sept. 25) and am sure that we will have a great time, once again thanks to the informative ladies and gentlemen on this website.

Called my TA (HIGHLY recommended) and he was told it was only for new bookings. After reading all your recent posts, I decided to call HAL again and try a little charm. Spoke to someone who was very nice and she said that she is trying to research it a little and if it was available at the time of my booking, they would be able to do it. I don't want to ask about this one and have them axe my stockholders credit. But it would be great to combine them

The Carnival Stockholders Shipboard Credit is not combinable with any other shipboard credit. If the Carnival credit is greater you can have the other one removed and use the Carnival credit instead.

We booked thru an internet agency and they got the credit for us. I understood the 7031 was for AAA members and 7035 was for 10 day or longer cruises. I'm not sure that is correct but I read it on another board. But, I asked & received. So, you should ask regardless of who you booked thru. I went directly to HAL about our dinner assignment and they confirmed it. We were waitlisted when we booked. So, in certain cases they will talk to you even if you booked with a TA. They also told us if we wanted to request an upgrade we could do it thru the TA or do it ourselves.

CruisingAngel,
Just spoke with HAL directly and they told me that 7031 was only available for 2004 cruises. Don't know how you got it, but congratulations. Would you mind checking with your TA and seeing if it's 7031, or perhaps a new one for 2005 cruises. The representative at HAL said they didn't have anything like it for 2005, but they've been wrong before.
Thanks,

We booked the 8/21 7 day Western Carribean directly thru HAL back in April, and based on the info from these boards I made a call yesterday to the Customer Service area at HAL. I just mentioned that I had heard about the credit and asked if it was still available. Without any hesitation, they looked up our booking and said we would get a $100.00 credit for the two adults, but nothing for the two teens below age 18. Fine with me! I even received an email within minutes of hanging up confirming the shipboard credit.
She wasn't sure, but indicated that since a change was made to the booking, we might receive a whole new set of documents for the adults. Seems like a lot of extra paperwork on their part, but hey, $100.00 will help with the new gratuity policy or a shore excursion!
Thanks to all for the info posted here!

Booked on the Zuiderdam 8/28 thru PriceLine Cruises. Was able to get an "S" suite for $1,075/pp. Emailed the TA that I worked with at PriceLine and received the following result:
I just called Holland America and that promotion is available but not with our low rates. In order to use the Promotion code 7031 the rate on your cabin will increase from $1075 (base) to $2145 (base). I didn't think that you would want to pay that much more for a SBC. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me anytime.
Not sure if this is just a line or if they are serious. In any event, I'm not complaining as this was a pretty good price. But I AM interested to know if anyone else has booked a HAL cruise with PriceLine, and if so did you get this (or any) promotion?

And my thanks to this board. I called my TA and he said HAL would not give us the credit because it was for new bookings only. I called HAL and found a reasonable person to talk to. She tried the bit where you need to contact your TA and I said I already did that. She asked me to call back today (spoke to her late the night before) and when I did, the credit was there! Called my TA and she said I done real good. It was only a $50 credit and supposedly it was because of my cabin category. Hey, every little bit helps.
My take on this is that for some reason, different agents within HAL have different info and some are just willing to be a little more customer oriented than others. I do find this to be true on other lines as well. Maybe when you call you end up with different departments and it all depends on their ability to do something.
Anywho, THANKS.

You saved us quite a bit. TA was able to get us $150 each in onboard credits for our 16 nt Prinsendame cruise. Also got it for my 2 Sisters. A total of $600 - not too shabby. Thanks again for the heads up.

Actually, I found out on Cruise Addicts, and many people continued to learn about it as the thread kept getting bumped to the top.
I figured CC members might as well learn about them also.
These boards are the best source of info.:)
Hi Orcrone,
Could you tell me under what category did you find HAL $50 shipboard account at Cruise Addicts? I called HAL on Friday after reading this thread and was told it does not apply for our booking (we will be Zuiderdam 8/28). One person from this sailing already got this shipboard account I know off. I will try to call HAL again on Monday to find more or call my TA (after the final payment sometime it is hard to get TA to do extra stuff) to check it out.
Thanks

After reading this thread earlier today, I emailed CVC and received a very prompt reply to the effect that HAL said "no". We HAVE got what we consider to be a remarkably low price for our ten day Caribbean cruise on the Volendam on November 26. We have a K cabin for $1528. We definitely could not find a comparable UK holiday for that price. Is that price inexpensive or should I still be looking for the shipboard credit?

ChattTenn,
You'll have to do a search on the HAL board over there. It's probably from about Feb. or March. There's a new one that also started up recently. Actually, now that I think about it, I think it was on the roll call thread for my Oct. 30 cruise.
With that said, I don't think you'll find anymore info over there than is over here. Usually, it just says call your TA and ask about the credit.
I think your best bet is to go through your TA.

If two I'd say the price is phenomenal. For one, it seems a little high, but it could be because it's Thanksgiving.
But regardless of the price, you may want to see about trying to get it. Other people posted (I think on a different thread) about getting a credit from CVC. You may want to search on CVC.

I have seen 267, 7031 and 7035 mentioned. From what I have read to use 7035 you need to have booked through AAA, I believe. It appears most people are getting credit from promo 7035 and 267. I did not get credit for my cruise next month, but I got an awesome rate, so I am okay with it.

I was able to get the onboard credit for my cruise October 20, Rotterdam, Canada New England. I also got the credit for clients on November 20, Zaandam and December 26, Veendam.
Today I will check with Windstar to see if they have a similar promotion.

Sue's Mom,
DId you book with CVC online? I did the same thing, for my 8/21 cruise, and KNEW that the credit applied to my cruise, and was told no, it was for new bookings only. I told them I knew that wasn't the case...after CVC's refusal to give me the credit, I called HAL to find out which sailings 7031 applied to, and when she checked my booking it turns out CVC did apply the credit after telling me no, and then I got an email from CVC telling me I got the credit. I would maybe go to your Roll Call and ask around, maybe you can prompt pax on your sailing to try and see what happens with other TA's.
CVC has unbelievable prices , but I think if I used them again I would call. Pax on this board have glowing recommendations about specific reps they've used, one even posted on the CVC thread. But once you book thru the Internet, you are a slave to their "Internet Dept", which is the dept most people on this board seem to have issues with.

Well, I just got off the phone with HAL, and was told that "the rate I am under is not combinable with any other offers."
We paid $1,075/pp for an "S" on the Zuiderdam thru Priceline Cruises. I guess this is a pretty good price.
Maybe this is the same 'rate category' that CVC is able to get. I sure wish I understood this industry better!

After emailing BestPriceCruises three times last week, I finally phoned today (they were telling me again to submit questions in email, but after I explained that my emails from last week had not been answered, she reluctantly said she would phone HAL). We booked with them in June and had positive results with them from our HAL cruise last year.
Anyway, we are booked in an I-category inside cabin for Zuiderdam 7-nt eastern Caribbean in November. She told me that HAL would only give $25 pp shipboard credit since it is an inside cabin.
When we booked in June, we could have booked an outside cabin for cheaper on a lower deck, but we booked the inside so we could be on an uppder deck for a reasonable cost. It is surprising that if we would have booked a cheaper outside cabin we would have been eligible for double the credit. Regardless, any shipboard credit is better than nothing at all!

BnCC - That is an excellent rate for an S, IMO. I did not qualify either, because of a special rate I got on the Veendam next month, and it is an excellent rate, so I am okay with it. Enjoy your S....I am hoping someday to experience the S. :).

Boy am I hoppin' mad! I called HAL Friday and asked for the shipboard credit. The guy had me on hold a bunch of times but in the end he said it did apply and that he would send me a conformation e-mail. The weekend went by without an e-mail so I called this morning. The person I spoke to this time told me that she spoke with her supervisor and that it was too late to have the credit applied.
I have called for other things before and everytime I call HAL Guest Services I get a different response. They don't seem to have any consistency in how they do things at all and some of the operators are just plain rude.
Ugh!! I sure hope HAL lives up to it's reputation because I do NOT have a good feeling about this.

jgooden1 - I am sorry that your experience with the HAL csr's has been poor. Please, please don't let it put a damper on your cruise. I sailed HAL for the first time last month, and enjoyed it so much, I came home and booked another one for next month. The csr is not a good respresentation of HAL, once on board. And, if it makes you feel better, I am not getting any credit either, BUT, I am thrilled with the price I paid...felt I got a really good deal, so oh well....I am not dismissing your disappointment, because I DO understand, but don't let it ruin the wonderful anticipation you've had for your upcoming cruise. When do you sail, and on what ship...did you share this, and I missed it???

Thanks for the kind words and positive reinforcement! I am very glad to hear that you had such a terrific time. I just have to stop worrying and go with the flow at this point!
The credit was just a nice plus. Afterall, even if I paid too much a $100 was not gonna cover it! It is just one more thing that has disappointed me along the way to our departure.
I am particularly concerned because this is my husband's first cruise (my first with HAL) and I want it to be wonderful!
We are sailing to Alaska on the Amsterdam this Sunday.

I will be looking forward to your review upon your return, as I sail Aug 22 on the Veendam. Thanks so much for posting about the shipboard credits. We are doing back to backs to Mexico in November and had inside cabin. why is there such a difference on shipboard credits, some get 100.00pp others only get 50.00pp ????
My TA said it was the cabin size that determined the amount. We have an inside cabin so we only got 25.00 per adult rather then 50.00..none for my 10 yr old. My TA said it was only good for the first two persons in the cabin. But like my partner and I said...it is better then nothing!!

On the other hand, "to show good will" they are giving us $25.00 each shipboard credit. Guess it's better than nothing which is what we would have got had it not been for this boeard.
Should we try and barter some more or take the credit and be happy? After all, it's a bottle of wine per person.

The only consistency I've found inthis whole procedure with these particular credits is that they're only good for the first two people in the cabin. Everything else is so variable, not only do they make it up as they go along, but I truly think SOME TA's say no because it's extra work. Some of the reasons I've read for being denied the credit are ludicrous, they must think we're idiots. They don't know about these boards, I guess...

I've never had onboard credits before and have a question... When you are told over the phone that they were able to secure the onboard credits for you, do you normally receive a written confirmation of that as well? (I'm accustomed to having all of my travel documentation in writing, so I did not know if it is normal to NOT have this in writing).
I booked through an online agency, and they tell online customers to use email... but after two weeks and no replies to my emails (that include booking numbers, Mariner numbers, ship, date, etc at the top for identification)... I finally gave in and just called. Of course they immediately told me to use email since I booked online, but I explained that emails were not getting an answer after waiting a week. On the phone I forgot to ask for written confirmation, and have emailed to ask for that, but still no response.
Thanks for any insight...

I would suppose when we all started posting about the credits the online TA's got swamped with questions, but I still feel like we all deserve the courtesy an email reply. Seems like it depends on who is responding to the emails as to what type of answer (if any) that we all are getting.

You should know this promotion doesn't apply to all sailings, and it can't be added if you have certain promotions, like five day flash. It also doesn't work for any 2005 sailings at this point.

Orcrone: Of course its not "necessary". Still, would be happy to do so. We are in Norfolk, East Ocean View, and are on the 11/20 Maasdam sailing, our first cruise. I see you are on the Halloween cruise. Please keep it ship-shape for us.
E-mail me at taxcourse at aol dot com if you want to talk.

We're booked on the 09/04 Zuiderdam and we got the $50pp shipboard credit. We are in a "S' and still only got $50. I think its higher only for the longer sailings, but I don't know that for sure. There are so many promotions going on, you never know for sure. But, I asked for it after we paid the final installment, and they gave it to us anyway. I think I'd check again if I were you. Of course, once before we booked thru AMEX and thought we were getting $100 and then they told us it didn't apply to that certain cruise. So, who knows how they determine who gets it and who doesn't.

We received confirmation from our online agency, along with a rewritten invoice to depict the onboard credits. This came about two weeks after emailing to ask, so I am glad to receive a reply! I had also taken someone's advice and emailed HAL directly and received a reply from HAL two days later. :) Talk about good Customer service on HAL's part! Yea HAL! I'm still tickled about the onboard credits - thanks again for sharing!!

Second, I booked with them as well, and was also told it would appear on my account, but am a little worried, I admit. Congratulations to all those who got shipboard credits one way or the other. I tried, both thru CVC and HAL and had no luck, getting different reasons each time. Below is my last correspondence with HAL after their denial and their reply.
My email to HAL:
>Thanks for the reply.
Frankly, the inconsistencies in the information we have received is very poor public relations on HAL's part. First we were told through our TA (per HAL) that shipboard credits were only for new bookings, although others were receiving them after they were booked long before us. Then, in your email, you state shipboard credits are not combinable with the "fantastic rate" that we got. However, I found at least one travel agent that is offering a rate about $100 per person less, PLUS a shipboard credit for the same type of stateroom. So that does not seem to be true. Application of your policies in this regard seem to be arbitrary and just depend on who you happen to talk to. Please forward this communication on to the proper management so they can know that they have a problem with customer satisfaction, even before we take the cruise. Getting or not getting a shipboard credit is not going to break us or ruin our vacation. It's just the principle. We do look forward to our cruise and hope for an exceptional experience on board. Thank you.<
HAL's Reply:
>Thank you for your most recent correspondence with Holland America regarding the ms Zaandam departing September 4, 2004.
Most of our promotions, including 7031, have terms and conditions that apply to the combinability of the rate you are paying for your cruise. Travel agency's sometimes have their own promotions that offer a ship board credit or different discount for the same sailing. For instance, some Agency's have blocked group space and negotiated a rate with us and are able to pass the savings along to their clients. They might include a ship board credit that comes from their funding, not Holland America's. Not all Passengers sailing will be able to secure a ship board credit. Holland America sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience or misunderstanding this may have caused.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to welcoming you on board!<
Anyone else get this kind of response?

I am interested to see what transpires. I have booked through CVC previously because their rates are excellent. Let's hope they do the right thing. I got my confirm from them via email, if you got yours the same way, you might want to bring a copy with you. It might help you, the cruiseline may honor it. This brings up a good point. Why do I have to contact my TA?
OK the reason is that HAL is paying the commission to the TA not me. So who do they have a responsibility to protect? The one who is paying them or the one who is buying? You got it... the one paying the commission.
Now why do I need a travel agent? I walk into their office, tell them where I want to go, when I want to go, how I want to get there, etc then they tell me how much I am to pay and they collect their commission. The next time I hear from them is if there is a problem or to tell me my documents are available.
Except, before I went into the TA I did some research (love the internet) and find a price 20% below the price they quote me for the cruise, 42% lower price for a train for which they want to charge an additional $20 each ticketing fee. Total savings so far $796.
Then some kind person tells me about a promo which will provide a $100 shipboard credit. TA informs me this is for new bookings. I tell them, I will contact HAL personally, thank you very much. (We have a S category Suite on the Zaandam 11/6 which allows us a $50 per person credit)
So I ask, how do I save myself another 15% (TA comm.) seeing as I do all the work anyway? Or do I just have a inept TA and search for a new one?

After learning about the $50 shipboard credit last Saturday on this board, I emailed my online TA about it. I had booked (and fully paid) Oct 23, Zui. only a week ago. $1252 for two of us. I know it is a faux pas to discuss actual prices, but I ain't got much cooth anyway. Besides, someone mentioned that the credit wasn't available for discounted cabins.
He responded today with a $25 pp ($50 pc) credit from HAL and a revised invoice. I'll take it. It will probably be contributed back to HAL in the Casino. Thanks to those who posted the info. So it seems the credit can vary considerably from booking to booking.

ecoxwhite,
My wife and I are also on the Volendam 12/26. I tried to get the promo code 7032, ship board credit, directly from HAL with no luck. I tried once again through the CVC (my online agency) and received an email from an agent stating that they had added, not $25 pp, but $50 pp. I booked the lowest rate of an inside guarantee @ $888.03 pp. I would try one more time and see if a different person may come through for you. It seems, in this game, it's "who" you talk to, and at what time you talk to them.
Good Luck! Kel

I am booked on the Seattle R/T (HAL Amsterdam), departing on 8/29/04 for a 7 day Alaskan cruise. Because of what I read here, I called my internet TA inquiring about promo codes 7031 and 7035(AAA members) - I was on hold for just a few minutes while she apparently spoke with HAL. I am so pleased to report that though I was not eligible for 7031 (was told that this was for new bookings only), I was, in fact, given the $50 per person shipboard credit for promo 7035. Wow. How simple was that! You guys are the best, and I am so glad to have found this message board (YAY for Orcrone!!), especially since I am new to the cruise world (this one being my first). I'll also mention that the credit is being granted to just the first two in the cabin (we are three, total, in a Deluxe Verandah) - but heck, it's still great!
If anyone cares to respond with suggestions for a first-timer (I am travelling with my 82 year old mom and 11 year old daughter, whoah) I would be more than appreciative....it's coming right up!
Anything in Seattle as a "must see"? We are flying into SeaTac the evening before the cruise and staying one day after the ship returns.
Again - thank you so much.

Rick,
I rec'd the exact same email response from HAL. Must be a form letter. I have yet to receive the on-board credit from either HAL or Travelocity. I will take the advice of others and keep on trying. It may be who you speak to and I am persistent!
I wish someone had the exact details of the promo. Haven't seen the T's & C's of it posted anywhere. It would just give us more ammunition.

When I first read about the 7031/7032 promotions, someone said they got the discount because they were AAA members. I e-mailed our online TA and she told me that she had gotten us the $50pp credit. I then read that 7031 was for mariners and 7032 was only good if you booked thru AAA. Someone else said one was for 10 day and one for 7 day. I still dont' know how we got it, but when the documents arrived, there wasn't a voucher. I didn't know if there should have been or not. But, I e-mailed HAL thru their web site and got a reply the next day that said yes we did have the credit and I could use the e-mail for confirmation. There are so many promos going on that one never knows what is correct. We are mariners and get e-mails and brochures all the time but I have not seen anything about credits. Thankfully, someone tipped us off. I'd contact HAL about it if you can't get it thru your TA. Someone said HAL wouldn't talk to them directly if they used a TA but I've found that to be incorrect. They confirmed our dining time and also answered questions we had about paid upgrades. Maybe it depends on who answers the phone or gets your mail. I've had more luck going thru the mariner desk than anything else.

Sailing on the Volendam 12/26. I've talked with Travelocity 2x and HAL 2x. Keep saying that this promo cannot be applied because of the negotiated rate that Travelocity has with HAL. Though it is a good rate, others have a good rate with other agencies and have still rec'd the credit. Travelocity says that the only way to get this promo is to cancel with them and book with someone else! Of course, they give me this option now that all the rates have gone up.
I have 2 cruises booked with them right now- 9/11 (3 cabins) & 12/26. You would think they would do more. Guess they want my business......

It evidently has nothing to do with the price you paid, but with the TA you use - that's what (evidently) both HAL & Travelocity have told you. Have you confirmed that someone else got the same (or better) rate than you and still got the credit?

Well, this is probably my last posting on this subject. After getting nowhere with HAL and CVC, I noticed another TA had a better price AND $100 shipboard credit for our 9/4 cruise for the same grade cabin. So I wrote CVC one more time to see if they would match it. Their response:
"You are currently paid in full and sailing on a holiday sailing. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can for you about pricing at this late date."
I don't know what a holiday sailing has to do with it. Their competitor price is for the same sailing. This is our first cruise and I am getting an education. Next time (assuming we enjoy this cruising thing), I will be much more aggressive cutting my deal up front or finding a more cooperative TA. Thanks to all for the information and feedback.

Rick,
If you have one more try left in you, here is the person that I had contact with that agreed to give me the credit at CVC . His or her name is Bolaji and his/her direct email is bayiloge@****************. In my original email to the company I just told them that I had spoken with HAL and that they indicated that I qualified for the promo, however, I would need to contact my TA and that they would be able to take care of it for me. They agreed to it with no argument (we'll see). Worth a try! Good Luck!
Just curious which TA you discovered that had a better rate than CVC? I have been unable to beat their prices. Thanks!

We were able to secure the on board credit of $50/person with prom 7031 the other day by calling HAL direct for our 9/25 Zuiderdam. Granted, we stopped using T/A's a few years ago as most of the one's we dealt with in the past always seemed to miss some details that we caught and it was frustrating to have to go through a third party when it is so much easier to talk directly to the cruise line. With the Mariner discounts being hard to beat, we have not found any great savings going through a cruise broker.

I had pretty much the same experience with a different online agency. The price was the same ($1075 for an S suite) and they were told by HAL that the credit did not apply to our rate. Although the credit would have been nice, in the long run I'm happy with the overall price.

Just called HAL and requested the credit on our 13 day Prinsendam 9/20/04 cruise (Lisbon to Athens).
We had booked thru Hal and had already paid in full.
The nice lady said I could not have the credit for three reasons--
1. it is cruise specific and this cruise is not included.
2. The credit must be asked for at time of booking. They are not allowed to offer the promo (ie: the customer must already know about it).
3. The promo cannot be combined with any other promo.
It sounds like a recommendation to deal thru a travel agent instead of directly with HAL. It seems that most of the people getting the credit after the fact were represented by a TA with some pull. If you go directly, you are on your own.
She also mentioned that this promo was, until recently, only available thru TAs and only recently was offered to others.

I thought people might be interested in HAL's response to a letter I sent to Seattle. We had been booked for the 7 day Maasdam Canada and New England cruise in July. About three days before the cruise, we got a call from our TA saying the cruise was overbooked, and HAL was offerring incentives to change. We did in fact change to a Rotterdam 10 day Panama Canal cruise in December in a better class of room with a refund of part of our price for Maasdam. It really is a great deal, pretty much two for the price of one.
Any way, the point of this is that when our TA called about the promo, she was told that we already had too good a deal to give us any credit. So I wrote a letter pointing out that we moved for their convenience, not ours. Yesterday, we got a letter agreeing that we should be allowed the credit, and we each got a $50 shipboard credit. I'll be taking the letter with me on the cruise, to be sure.
We're very pleased with their response. I wasn't upset about the original denial; I just thought it was worth the time to write.

Clopaw,
Sounds like you received the proverbial lemons and made lemonade. Your cruise was overbooked, so you got on another with a longer itinerary, with some nice incentives, a higher cabin category and a refund. And then a shipboard credit on top of it all.
Nice going.:)

We have no complaints whatsoever. The change was voluntary on our part; we just bargained with them. The first offer was just to push our Maasdam booking back one or two weeks. That didn't fit with my work schedule, so we said no. They kept upping the ante till we couldn't refuse!

We will be going on a 7 day B2B in August 2005, will this offer still valid then?
Thanks,

Figure this one out! We leave this coming Sat. (10/2) for the Panama Canal. Checked in June with our TA and was told we were not eligible for credit. After continually reading on the Boards about everyone getting credit I contacted HA via e-mail and received $75 per person credit.(The voucher was included in my docs.). The strange part is the couple traveling with us (I made the reservations for both of us at the same time) was told they were not eligible after I received the credit. This couple didn't followup because of a serious illness had to cancel. How can one couple get the credit and the othetr not qualify when the reservations were made at the same time thru our TA? All I can say to those turned down "keep trying".

It's nice that HAL will work directly with you. I just emailed to make sure that my American Express Platinum Card $300.00 shipboard credit is in place. MY TA said it was, but I have seen nothing in writing to confirm it.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Thank you Orcrone! I had my TA call and we did indeed get 100.00 per person S/B Credit (since we are booked in a suite)!! I really appreciate you and all the others who so kindly notify us of these special offers. I know I had an unbelievable savings occur for us on our Statendam cruise last December thanks to people like you on cruisecritic. Cheers!

When I heard about the credit I call HAL. They indicated that I needed to contact my TA. He was able to get $100 pp (or so he says) for the 10 day Dec 26th sailing on the Volendam.

:) I just got off the phone with my TA, who got that 7031 code applied toute suite! $50 per person for each of the 4 of us, yahoooo!
Btw, I also changed my table size to 8 from 4 because of all of the nice things you guys have to say about your tablemates...I don't want to miss out in meeting some of you in February on the Westerdam!

According to my TA credit only applies to first two people under code 7031. Do you have more than two people in a cabin or do you have two cabins?
Thanks.

Thanks to this thread and Orcrone, I now have a $100 shipboard credit which as of two weeks ago did'nt exist. I and my daughter are on the 12/12/04 Oosterdam cruise. One mention of promo 7031 did the trick. We used an online agency. Thanks again.

Oh, I should have said....we have one cabin, and our best friends have the cabin next door, so while we are travelling together, we are NOT bunking together. We were able to apply the credit to both cabins.

We're book on Ryndam on 1-13-05 for the canal cruise. My TA checked with HAL twice and was told the promo (and we are Mariners) was only good in 2004. Interesting how the stories change. It seems that people on European cruises in 2005 are getting this too. Anyone on a canal cruise in 2005 that has gotten this promo? I'd love to have a $100 credit to use.

I called HAL regarding my cruise on October 16th (coming up soon), after the NO from HAL, saying we did not qualify for the credit, I called my TA and yes we did finally receive this credit.
I think it was the 7032 for Mariners, $50. p.p.
Thank you for letting us know about this one.

There is a good deal if you go to the Cruise Consultant on board. You can book a cruise with only a $100 deposit each, and there are no more payments until the final is due. Your will also get a shipboard credit.
You can also add family and friends at the same deposit.
If you want to add a cancellation plan you have to do so aboard ship at the same time.
A bonus for your travel agent. Even though you book onboard the agent can follow through on details by entering your Mariner number, and he or she will get the regular commission.

The promo does not still apply.
A fairly new poster dug it up and posted about about booking on board for only 100 deposit and receiving an OBC.
The subject of this thread was OBC and I think he was trying to be helpful and let others know how to get an OBC by booking on board. :)

So I have been told that 7031 and 7032 is not the promo number anymore that the obc promos start with letters. They told me if I can find the right promo code they can see if it is valid on my sailing.

I gave my TA 7032 ---- maybe I had a visit from the "promo fairy" :D
To be honest I did not think it would work but she called me back and said "no problem, you have got it" We will see what happens when I eventually get the doc's.
Maybe the agency gave me the credits to keep my business, whoever it came from I'm happy. :)
