We are looking to sail the Noordam R/T NYC at the end of October. For anyone who has done a NYC sailing at this time of year, is the weather still fairly warm? And we are considering driving from Mass to the pier in NYC. If you have done something similar, could you please let me know if it is difficult to get to the pier? Thank you.

And we are considering driving from Mass to the pier in NYC.
For your consideration, in case you're not aware---there's a HAL Homecity bus to/from the Noordam when it's in NYC. The fare is quite reasonable.
I don't know where in Massachusetts you are coming from, but there's bus service from Boston, Providence, and cities in Connecticut. That may be easier/cheaper than traveling and paying to park in NYC.

RuthC, thank you. I did know there was a bus available. It leaves Boston at 6:45 am and makes several stops along the way. My sister did it last year and didn't really like it, that is why I was hoping to drive myself and park at the pier. I just didn't know what to expect. Thanks for your help.

I've done it twice from Providence and thought it was great both times! The first time the bus originated in Providence and had no stops---except one half-hour rest break. The return was similar.
The second time the bus originated in Boston, but there were no further stops---except for that rest break again.
I believe the number of stops is based on how many passengers there are on the entire route---more passengers means more busses run means fewer stops per bus.

Weather in NYC in October runs from 50 to 60 degrees. There are some beautiful fall days where the sun shines brightly and then some where it is crisp, but never freezing like in winter. When my kids were young, there were times when they wore winter jackets when we went trick or treating, but that was already sundown and the end of the month.

We have driven from the Philly area several times. While it is not nearly as far as you, the pier is only 5 or 10 minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel. Drop off and parking is a breeze and when you return, a porter will take you and your luggage through customs and right up to your car in the parking lot and even help you load.
