khun: Yes, we were on the Amsterdam holiday cruise last year and it was absolutely the best cruise we have ever had! The itinerary, ship, crew, staff and entertainment were all first rate. We were also blessed with unusually smooth seas and great weather, except for only one day.

HAL ensured that the Amsterdam was decorated in holiday finery, includig a small wreath on each cabin door. Santa paid a visit on Christmas day for the kids, of which there were about 35 on-board. Both Christmas and New Years were formal nights. There was priest, a rabbi and a protestant minister for all the religious services held during the cruise. The Christmas Eve presentation was the crew and staff singing holiday songs from their respective nations with a candlelight group sing at the end-very well done and special, followed by a buffet out in the atrium. There was a Black & White Ball for New Years Eve.

HAL even carried by satellite all the NFL playoff games which were televised in the Sports Bar and in the Wajang Theatre.

The Amsterdam is our favorite ship. We took over 300 pictures and almost 5 hours of video! Our friends are now reluctant to come to our house now! Visiting Antarctica was definitely the highlight of that cruise and the lecturers were all excellent-very knowledgeable and entertaining. I would be pleased to answer any other questions you might have. :)

Maybe get to Vegas again one day, last time was in 67 at the Riviera, wow, i am getting real old.

khun: my pleasure to assist! We embarked in Chile and left in Rio. In Santiago, we stayed at the Hyatt Regency-very nice hotel. While in Antarctica, the temps were in the low 30s during daytime-be sure to take sunglasses and sunscreen-lots of water, ice, snow, icebergs (oh yeah, LOTS of icebergs) and reflected sunlight.

Well just like you and me, Vegas has changed a bit since '67!

Thanks For The Good Wishes, Seems You Manage A Fair Amount Of Cruising Without Assistance From The Lottery!

Enjoy All Your Future Ones!:)

Khun:

Welcome aboard! We're going to join you on the 12/15 Amsterdam cruise Bill S
has been a huge help for those of us planning this trip. He frequently sent messages from the ship last year while on the cruise. I've got a folder filled with his suggestions. We're going to stay at the Marina Palace while in Rio. We arrive there on 12/11; we're not going to do a post cruise in Santiago.
