I think it's neat when travel writers mention, even casually, Holland America. In Rick Steves' online blog he wrote about leaving his camera in his room. "Today I left the hotel without it and, as usual, I missed two fun shots: a massive Holland America cruise ship gliding by the Venice harborfront looking like it would destroy the Doge's Palace, and a bunch of white-bonneted chefs gathered outside an ancient building during a fire alarm."
I guess we've all had times we didn't have our cameras with us and wished we did.

Rick might 'mention' HAL, but he'd only book EasyCruise!

I dunno - the way they're discounting some cruises to below Carnival rates nowadays...

jhanna - you are so right about the camera!! We have done several cruises several times and decided that since we had been to all those ports we wouldn't take a camera. And of course -- there were some pictures we wanted to take.

Rick Steves is a class act. I remember him from the late 70s, when he used to host travel slideshows -- long before photos were on the Internet. I was also privileged to attend a couple of his travel writing seminars in the 80s. He is a Prince. Rick and his wife paid for and built an entire apartment building in his hometown of Edmonds, Washington, for the use of at-need mothers and their families. Rick is one of my favorite people in the world, and I recommend his blog.
