View Full Version : July 29 Statendam - Does HAL still have fresh squeezed OJ in Lido?

It's been a few years since I cruised with HAL. One of my favorite things to do was my morning exercise; then head over to the Lido for fresh OJ. The fellow was usually there feeding a big machine full of oranges. Yummy! And a great way to start the day.

We just returned from the Statendam and didn't see anyone squeezing it, but it sure tasted great!

We found lots of it every morning at breakfast in the Lido during our Trans Panama Canal cruise on Amsterdam in May!

The machines aren't out like they used to be where you could even put the oranges in yourself!! (I remember those days.) Some of the ships have them insight behind the juice counter.

In the Lido on the Amsterdam during our Trans Panama Canal cruise in May, ALL the juices, including "fresh squeezed" orange juice AND milk were pre-poured in small glasses.
You had to read the signs above the poured juices to discover which juices were "fresh squeezed" & which were from "concentrate"

So that's where they hid the "OJ" I had looked for the machine that use to be at the end of the pastry. Never thought to look for it with juices, who would have thought they would put it right under our noses. Anyway the tomato juice and the V8 was great.

Yes, Amsterdam still has it as of this week.

HAL is the only line that has done the fresh-squeezed OJ...at least the ones we have been on. Looking forward to it with our breakfast in Nov. aboard the Zuiderdam...........

Was on the Amsterdam for the 1 day from YVR to SEA at the end of that panama crossing. It was there then.

Fresh squeezed juice was available on my recent Holland America sailings. This discussion reminds me of a picture posted on the Royal Caribbean boards back in March from the Majesty of the Seas. Fresh squeezed juice was available there for $3.95 + 15% tip. Regular juice was still free. I tried to find the picture, but, it was no longer available. Here is link to the discussion:

We enjoyed fresh-squeezed OJ on Veendam in April and juice machine was very visible.

Ok thanks - I have to be honest I really wasn't looking very hard for it, but I will on our next cruise, so I can speak this issue again.
