Mosquitoes ???

Mosquitoes, are they a pest in/on Western Caribbean cruises. Anyone know ????

I don't ever recall a problem with mosquitoes on a cruise ship. But I would think that if you went on a jungle tour in Jamaica it could be a problem.

I don't think I've ever seen a mosquito in the Caribbean... but hey, what do I know - I got corrected on the jellyfish question!

If you go to Cozumel and go into the jungles outside San Miguel you will encounter many, many mosquitos. Even at Chankanaab you'll need some repellent. We rented a jeep and drove to the ruins and then did a walking tour and we could actually hear the sound of buzzing mosquitos. It wouldn't hurt to carry along some deet.

Definitely get some repellent that has DEETin it if you intend to go off the beaten track in either Jamaica or Mexico. Along the coast or in the seaports, the mosquitoes are not a problem. Once you get into the interior jungles, not only will you encounter mosquitoes, but there are also black flies and other stinging insects.

Mosquitoes - there was just a report on our local TV stations a few days ago about them. The report said that you should just flick them off you - don't smash them on you. They showed a man who had an infected finger and was in the hospital. Mosquitoes carry more germs than the maleria protozoans.
