I've read in the past that some have had trouble receiving their stock/shareholder shipboard credit.
Under what circumstances?
I just booked for next spring and received a promotion of $25 shipboard credit each. ...By having that on my account, will HAL/Carnival still give me my $100 shareholder credit?
The travel agent didn't know and called HAL and HAL representative didn't know the answer... she said a different department handles shareholder credit and I'd have to apply for shareholder credit after I booked.

You can try, but I have not been able to get Hal to do this in years. You may be told you can have one or the other.

That's the kind of thing I thought I remembered reading.
Maybe I'll tell the agent that I want soda cards or something else instead of the shipboard credit.
Wonder if that will work?

I have not had a problem receiving both credits. Once with a HAL credit and shareholder credit, once with a TA credit and a shareholder credit. :) :)

I too have NEVER had that problem. I have always recieved both the OBC from having booked prior on line as well as my CCL stock credit. One should have nothing to do with the other. I have received my CCL stock credit for all of my past 10 cruises and on all but a couple of these I also had additional ship board credit.

We have never been able to combine our AMEX Plat shipboard credit with out Carnival shipboard credit.
BUT - on our last cruises we book a couple of future cruises for 2008. The shipboard credit we got from HAL can be combined with AMEX Plat for the first segment and the other shipboard credit can be combined with the Carnival for the second segment.
In the past, we used to get AAA shipboard credit and on some cruises we were able to combine it with one of the above mentioned credits.

It doesn't make sense to me that if you have stock that you can not combine that credit with another. One should have nothing to do with the other.
Does that mean if one books onboard and gets some (small) credit and then tranafers to another TA, yu can not combi8ne the credit? I bet the on-board future cruise credit is less than what might be available with a TA?

I myself have never had a problem combining the CCL credit and other shipboard credit but just to tell you of a weird quirk they did not let me do. When we were on the Noordam 2 weeks ago I booked with the Future Cruise Consultants the Eurodam cruise and picked my cabin then I also purchased one of the floating to be used at a later date so to receive ship board credit. In the back of my mind I was already thinking we might do an additional Alaska cruise yet this season and would use this floater. Well, when we did decided and chose the Noordam and the SZ Guarantee what we chose was part of the Flash 3 Day Sale they claimed we could not get the additional ship board credit from the on-board booking with the Flash 3 Day Sale. They told us not to use it and to use it later. We were already canceling the Ryndam so the deposit for that was being transferred over and because it was a Repositioning cruise we did not have any extra ship board credit even though we did book it last year while on board the Veendam. Since I had just paid the extra $200 I was hoping it could go toward what I was paying for this cruise but did not want to loose the ship board credit. I just thought that was rather strange.
I did send in the fax yesterday for our CCL credit for the Noordam and my TA is giving us some shipboard credit. But just strange I could not use the floater. But I guess because the price was reduced they did not want to give up another $100. BTW the cruise we booked has gone back up in price and is now $1084 more counting the ship board credit we were given.

The "rules" state it is not combinable. Whatever they decide to allow or not allow is not clear.
It does appear that they are allowing you to combine the on board future booking credit with the stock credit. At least for now........
Depending on the discount you may not even be able to use the stock credit. It happened to me once.

Once you've booked and deposited, send your name/ship/sail date/reservation #/copy of proof of ownership of 100+ shares of Carnival stock to
HOLLAND AMERICA LINE Reservation Administration300 Elliott Avenue West Seattle, WA 98119Tel 800-993-5483 Fax 206-298-3059
I would anticipate that your Shareholder OBC will appear on your reservation within a week or so ... ask your TA to check, because it WILL be itemized.
Good luck ... I've always had the OBC applied by following the above procedure ... and I fax everything instead of using snail mail.

Our AAA in our area no longer gives any gifts or shipboard credit since 9/11.
It is HAL that will not let us combine AMEX Plat and Carnival for the same cruise.
The shipboard that we are getting from booking while on the ship is very good being as we are in a suite and are on cruises longer than 10 days.
HAL has made it very clear in their fine print that flash price reductions do not qualify for many shipboard credits offered by various means - this has been discussed for years here.

gizmo, I have been using fax number 206-281-0627
I faxed this in yesterday morning and before I finished typing this I just called my TA and she pulled it up and sure enough it was already showing:) So I was given the CCL Credit with one of the low Flash Rate 3 Day Sales.

I guess I have just been lucky because on several occasions the price I paid was one of their special sales. The best was when we paid only $1100 PP for an S Suite for 7 days plus received Mariner Ship Board Credit and my CCL Stock Credit. Oh how I would like to find a deal like that again.:D But then I found that deal in June 2004 and the sailing was October 2005:o

Thank you everybody.
We've never had trouble getting the carnival stock credit before. This is the first time we've ever booked with a travel agent/credit promo.
It raised red flags because of what I had read on here before.
If we run into trouble, I'll let you know.

I agree. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
I see no reason whatsoever to purchase cruise company stocks (over other stocks) except for onboard shareholder credit for each cruise taken. Even with their recent years' gains, they aren't the top stocks out there.
