I have a few questions My cabin is 7001 and does that cabin have aDVD player, Also does anyone know if cell phones work up in Alaska?

We were on Deck 6 and had a DVD player so it is quite likely you do. AT&T/Cingular works fine in port in Alaska

We were on 7... or 8? Directly under the Lido.. Jr Suite.. and we had a DVD player.. phones ONLY worked in port.. whatever that new satellite thing is, it didn't work with my razor (cingular). :)

Thanks for the info i have gotten different info form others Some say DVD in Suites only Hope not

Cingular (AT&T) does not have a contract with SeaMobile who is HAL's satellite provider at sea. T-Mobile and Verizon do have a contract but you have to have a phone that works with it (1900 service). Most all US cellular phones will work in Alaskan ports as well as in Hawaii and the Caribbean.

Thanks for you help Grannynurse.... By the way rnbtr = rnbtr RN born to run. I am a nurse in nycfor the last 36 years and as of the last 5 years working in nursing education. Have you ever been on the Zuiderdam I have been on 2 Princess , 2 Celebrity 2 Royal Carb and 3-4 Carnival ships. The carnival trips were in the early 1990's. Looking forward to this one . I hope the evenings are too formal packing light and casual (except for formal night).

I was on the Zuiderdam in April in room 8064 (VA caregory) and did not have a DVD player. I have verizon and used my cell in port in Alaska 3 years ago. Have a great cruise. :)
