Are you more apt to go to Bars/Lounges on some nights?

Do you seem to go to a lounge for a pre dinner cocktail on formal night more than you do on a casual night?

Yes, although this was obviously before our son started cruising with us. There's just something about being all dressed up that makes going out more of a special event.

Nope, never...We don't "partake of spirits"...However we did make it to the crows nest for an Elton John tribute guy on the last night of our cruise last March.

We used to have a couple of drinks every evening before dinner.

Then HAL began the new dinner times. On our May Maasdam cruise cocktail hour was from 5:15 - 6:15. We had 5:45 dinner time. By the time we placed our drink order, the drinks were delivered along with the appetizers, it was after 5:30 - time to go to dinner.
We never went back. We saved a lot of money on that cruise.

We will check it out on the Statendam this fall. If things haven't changed, guess we won't worry about having cocktails before dinner.

We usually always end the evening in a bar or lounge having a drink and listening to some music...maybe dancing.

But on formal night we do tend to go to the lounge and have apre dinner drink. Something about being all dressed up makes you want to be out and mingle a little longer :)

Funny, but this was the first time we noticed that the Ocean Bar (where we always go pre-dinner) was crowded on the two formal nights but was not crowded at all on casual nights. I wondered if it was coincidence or if folks enjoyed going to the lounges more because they had gotten all dressed up.

I never saw much of a difference. On the first formal night, most were at the Captain's cocktail party. On the other formal nights, it seemed the same to us. The people who enjoyed a pre dinner cocktail or two showed up in the bar. We have made many good friends with the pre dinner cocktail crowd.:)
