Please help on the choice of cabana color on the Half Moon Cay. Going on April 1 Volendam and would like your input of butler upgrade and opinions on the cabanas. Thanks guys, joyous

Joyous, been to HMC 2X now. Grandchildren liked it better than Disney's Castaway Cay. Never used a cabana. IMO its not necessary but that's only our opinion. Have a great time.

I would check to see how many and which ships will be at Half Moon when you are there. Our Maasdam was the only ship and there was lots of open space and privacy so a cabana was not really needed. There were plenty of loungers and beach space right in front of the bar and there were no lines for drinks.
If there are a couple ships (especially a big Vista class) and you have family/friends that love the beach I'd go for a cabana. Even if you get a cabana you still have to go out in the public area to get to the beach or water. If it's just your Volendam I'd think of spending the money at the spa onboard the ship instead of on a cabana.

get a cabana and i guarantee you won`t regret it. we had purple and it was far enough from the crowd but close enough to the activities. we opted not for the butler service and did`nt regret it. the servers were ever present and kept everything fresh and stocked. the cabana next to us had a butler and seemed to enjoy it. we had a great time on the volendam last year on a five day cruise, the ship is just the right size in my opinion.

joyous: There is a very good post about the cabana & butler package over on the ports of call- private island section. I would check over there. You'll find what you are looking for.

Thanks to all of you. My daughter and son-in-law and another couple are going and I just wanted to find out what I could about the cabana I booked for them. joyous

We had the turquoise cabana with a butler and loved it!!! The cabana is close to the restrooms and BBQ area. Even without a butler, the cabana would be a wonderful experience.
