Did you guys get better deals in a package w/hotel, cruise, airfare, car rental etc? (If coming from elsewhere or spending any time in Florida)

My travel agent booked the cruise separate from the hotel and disney. She booked the rental car but they were charging like $58 plus charges a day and I told her to cancel it and that we could do better-especially since we have an entertainment book w/coupons for rental car.

I'm new to travel agents and wonder if she's doing as good of a job as she could---or maybe she's doing great?

What do you think?

Tickets for myself, my husband and dd for an inside cabin (cat 11, I think) were $1066 total. Is that a good price or could she have done better?

Disney Value Resort was $99 a night I think and the Disney tics were a few bucks less than what's on the Disney website.

So-what do you think? Value or Gyp?

Not knowing when you are cruising it's impossible to say if it's a good rate or not. Some weeks $1066 could be the price per person.

Sounds like a great price to me for a Disney cruise.

It is easy enough to check just go look it up on disney's web site.
Personally I would never second guess my TA , and I think she would be hurt if i was on a public forum asking people if she ripped me off. Since disney does not discount, the only way to get a "better deal" is for her to give you part of her income.

$1066 total for 3 people sounds cheap to me, but dont have any idea what you booked?? 3, 4 or 7 day. We are paying $1322.XX for 2 of us.

We, also, dont know WHEN you booked. I have seen value rates as low as $82 and heard there were bargains thru AAA even lower, but that doesnt include taxes and again we dont know WHICH value hotel you are in or the time of year.

Renting a car sounds like the way to go, we decided to drive so will have to pay the $12 per day parking at port charges. No matter how you do it, it adds up. So dont nickel and dime it too much or you will drive yourself nuts.

I'm just so new to this stuff I don't want to get taken.
When we did the carnival cruise (like 11 years ago), my husband took care of everything and this time, I'm in charge of doing the homework ahead of time.

This is our first real family vacation together too so I want to try to do my best to coordinate it!:D Any tips are reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally appreciated!

Sounds like an excellent deal to me! I just booked a 7 night land and sea for July 2008. $17,000 for 5 people (cat. 1). But from what i've read it'll be worth every penny..
