Anyone have info on cabins at the bow? We are looking at a VA at front of ship and dont really know much about the front of the ship.We had 8010 on the Westerdam on the Baltic and one night we had enough vertical motion that I had to go to a lower deck for a couple of hours. My DW wasn't bothered enough to go with me.
We really liked the location except for the looooong walk to the dining room and the start of the Lido serving lines! :)

We were in a teeny, tiny inside bow cabin (4011, Upper Promenade) on the Zuiderdam in 2004. We had rough seas one night, and my husband said we were getting 'negative Gs'. I guess it was a pretty wild ride. I was thankful that I was asleep! He, of course, loved it. (He'd be happy if we had rough seas the entire time, every cruise. Strange man.)

I have seen pictures of it and you should have lots of room for your wheelchair or scooter.

I have them on disc....HAL sent some of them to me. I have a big collection of various HC cabin pictures on HAL ships.
E-mail me and I will see if I can find the VA you mentioned.

Due to a number of items, we will have HH3433 an aft HC cabin on the Amsterdam. I seem to be flaring with FM, not to mention knees, neck and other assorted body parts for myself and DH. He just bought a combo monopod/"walking stick" to help with his artificial ankle. Anyway, I finally decided a cabin that had extra accommodation would reduce the hassle with it being so close to the aft deck. DH is a photography instructor but a problem shoulder makes it harder to carry equipment. I hope this location gives him an opportunity for some spectacular shots. Meanwhile when I need to rest, I won't be far away.
Do you have photos or any other information about HH3433?
Anything that helps me "make it through July" will be treasured.
Blessings,

No disc from HAL....but you can e-mail them and request pictures of HC by cabin number and ship.
Or, you could e-mail me and I will send you the VA HC pictures now.

Gail,
I have photos of 3431 from the Volendam/Zaandam, which is an exact copy of 3433 on the Amsterdam. E-mail me and I will send them.

We've stayed in 6003/6004 on three different Vista ships - not on Noordam.
Ample room for DH's power wheelchair.
I would say the balcony is very windy. He doesn't care to go out on it, but I do.
Also, we had a very rocky ride when we ran into a tropical storm -- twice -- while on the Westerdam in 2005.
But for us, it's a good choice. We tried an SS, 6108, and DH did not like the bathroom configuration.
Whenever we are considering a cruise on a ship we've not experienced, DH will call HAL and they'll e-mail us pix of the specific cabin we request. [In the future, we should just contact Sean!]
It really saved us from a possible mistake -- booking a HC room on the Maasdam, that appeared to be something we'd not find comfortable!

No - sorry! I never think to take pix of our cabins!
We were in 6108 on the Zuiderdam in May 2005. The balcony is wonderful -- we had always booked a VA before, so we were surprised at the size of it.
I think a lot of it has to do with the location of the cabin, too.
It was a lovely room - plenty of space to maneuver a power wheelchair.
What we didn't like about 6108 is the configuration of the bathroom. Because it is an accessible SS, there is only one sink, not two. No biggie for us, but I know some people like that feature of the SS cabins.
What was problematic for us was the roll-in shower. It faces the toilet, and so when you pull the shower curtain shut, you and the toilet are both inside the shower! It makes for a very wet toilet area. I felt as if I were mopping the bathroom floor and toilet area all the time!
Because of that, we went back to booking VAs.
DH has spoken to HAL about the matter, suggesting they change the track for the shower curtain, so that it does not include the toilet in the shower area. Not sure if they have done that.
